I don't have the DYna yet, i have decided to start it on the points, and get it down on the floor and off the bench.

400 bucks. Maybe feb. I just really want to get it started and then be motivated again. It's alot like car guys say....there is nothing like a paint job to get you more into finishing the project.

Well if your a motorcycle guy there is nothing like starting the dam thing to get you motovated.

Damn right! I'd rather gap points than ride the couch any day. That blue box can wait for a little while.

Been looking into the lithium Iron batteries myself- want to go back to button start on my dragbike. 2 sources I've discovered are www.schnitzracing.com and www.turntechbattery.com . Tech questions go to the-man@turntechbattery.com

Dam just read testarossas news (he is riding the bike) now i am all fired up.

I had to work Sat and Sun this weekend so no new news.

All I need to do is check the wiring and fuel it.

It just needs to be a special day you know no hurry, all the right thigns all cleaned, soft music in the background, a glass of 12 year old scotch.

Sort of like proposing for marrige.

Well I have not had the time to properly get ready for starting, but did make the foam protective frame for the new battery.

It looks so happy there ready for the first ride.

Looks good. Any concerns about heat surrounding the battery? Not sure if that's a factor at all with batteries??
Mine is pretty open but I'm not sure if it has to be....

Well the instructions for the battery were to use the supplied foam to fill the gaps created by the smaller package. The grey foam supplied with the battery was a great deal more dense than the black industrial foam i am using.

I had the same concern about engine heat so i am trying to insulte the battery from the heat of the engine.

Good question.

Congratulations Ted. I'm not kidding when I say that your bike really inspired me when I was researching my build. I'm very happy for you that you go it running again. You can be proud of your efforts.

Thank you,

Thats quite the compliment.

I am now sipping of the Glenlvet in Celebration mode.

By the way, that little battery really cranks. I have one fouled plug I think, number three never really fired well. The motor still idled quite well after it warmed to op. temp. There was one oil fitting leaking a bit, i tightend it up. Now to torque down every friggin bolt is the next step a double check really.

Sunday a trip to the auto store in order to purchase new plugs, those have been in there since 1998. I am prettty sure the oil I drenched the cylinders with did them in. The spark looks weak, running the old points.

Mrs. Ted promises the capital for the new ignition system. If all goes well I will take it down the street Sunday for the hair raising first ride.
