Almost forgot, the only thing with the ZRX shocks are that you cannot run a stock chain guard. The spring diameter is larger, and the chain guard does not clear, even if notched.

I'll keep the ZRX shocks in mind. As for the chain guard. I never had that part, bike was salvaged prior to my purchase back in the late 80's. This was one of the origional bits missing.

Well it's off the Dyno loosing 2 hp from the old base line numbers.

At this point running 60ish hp. Probably should not have gone with these carbs...In a word hmmmm.

I wanted the intake extensions off being the only major change, plus the manual chain tensioner. These carbs are meant for racing, not road riding. So there is a major bell curve on the O2 that we'll likely never get away from...
Air box was one thought. But, to really utilize these carbs the motor and head need to be reworked. Big bore daddy. Later. After suspension and breaks are up to date.

Regardless, the case is ready for finishing, and it runs. So she's on her way home in a few days.

I'll post some pics of the case repair before paint.

Clipping my budget this round she will be home for a full on nut and bolt.

Need to make a new muffler hanger and she should be ready to rumble for fall.

Don't want to risk riding home with a three year old tag on it. No time to get in and out of the DMV...Hmmmm I'll have to see if I can pull it out of NON-OP online.

Still need to do a full safety check on the HW before riding though.

I have found that "Quick Steel" bonds great to aluminum and is easily tooled and sanded smooth. It is available at walmart near the JB Weld.

BTW: For rear-shocks these work nice and they raise the back of the bike a bit in the process. They are off a Zephyr 750 and the 550 and 1100 have them also.

It's running now with all the body work and tank on. Sounds great with the new cam chain tensioner. No cam chain slop on this puppy any more. Carbs still make noise at idle, always have, wonder if this is pervasive with the RS carb? They clatter at idle and shut up once the RPM go up.

It didn't want to stay at idle and I'll need to look at the cables to be sure no binding is involved with the tank on...

Still need to get the registration and insurance out of the way. I just needed to hear it run tonight. Lift my spirits a bit. Motivation, ya know.

Last week or so my garage was on it's ear. I had to take advantage of some Lab furniture the office was getting rid of... New shop bench is excellent! Welders and other tool boxes stuff nicely under this as the support frame is all in the back. Only legs/feet forward so no cross beam in front. So my weekend was spent moving the stuff back to shelves and other organizing so I can find all my parts boxes.

I have to kick my wifes crap out of the way.... Eight bags of garbage with our address and personal information on it for the shredders. Reminds me to throw it in her truck now.

Since the next few weeks will be spent on an office consolidation project and other nightmares at work I'll be taking my time...

One item that was interesting is a report from Derek about YSS shocks he's received at this point. Not for my bike but for others.
1) He notes they are a little heavy compared to others.
2) They do not offer a straight rate spring option.
3) They didn't mention a flat rate shipping cost of $75.

I thank everyone for their interest. Not sure what I'm going to do just yet about the shocks. Not sure I want to place the ZRX or Zephyr units as they will jack up the back a bit more. Thanks for the picture BK how do you like them in comparison to the old units?

Still have to make the new pipe bracket and was discussing this with my machine shop friend. Well be messing with it as soon as I can get it over to his place for some fab work.

That flat rate shipping is $25.00 instead of $75.00. Even to me here in California that's about $8.00 more than UPS charges. Not a huge deal I guess, but not telling me is.

Heading into DMV today if I have time. Will be riding shortly.

Have the ideas how to stiffen the pipe hanger, hope I can take care of this before the weekend.

My family is up in Forrest Hills so taking it up there for a shake down run would be slick.

I'll post some pictures of the pipe hanger once complete.
