Dropping of the head this morning to have a three angle valve job done.
Also having 020 shaved off so that should put the C/R just under 11 to 1.

Next up is deal with the clutch,
Partszilla list the OEM fiber plate's as a good number
so should get them and some APE clutch springs next payday.

Curtis called today and said the head's ready
so I'll go get it after work tomorow.

Started making some valve cover block off plate's
and new motor mount plate's.

I guess the cheapie northern tool drill didn't like the hole saw's 3/4 ways through
the last hole all the smoke came out.

Good for you Dave. Make what you can with good Ol' hand labor and sweat equity.
I do the same. Take 2-3-4 hours time to make 1 part. Because I did not pay the man!
Good Luck with the re-build!

z1kzonly I am the ONLY one that has worked on
this bike since I got it. only thing I didn't do was weld
the swing arm.

In the last six weeks I spent damn near as much money on the
motor as I have in the bike itself..
Right now I'm just under $3500 total on this bike
counting buying it and stand a good chance of going in the 10.00's

Nothing to do with bikes but I remember when I was a youndg lad ... many moons ago....I had a Honda 185cc ATC.Raced that thing all over my parents pasture but really couldn't use all the power it had. Bought a smaller 110cc ATC and had a ton more fun on it. Actually sold the 185 simply cause I got more enjoyment out of the 110 being able to use all it had while could only use a protion of the 185 power. Used to outrun my cousin on his 185 all the time. Just had so much more fun on something that I used everything instead of just a portion. Smaller bikes like 650's have plenty of power and I can see how they would be as much if not more fun simply cause you would feel more in control and could use what it had. Like the look of your 650 and I bet it's a blast to race. One of my favorite bikes was a 650 raced at Byron that wasn't near as fast as the other bikes but it had "the look".
