When I got back from vacation this week I tackled a few more things.

Got the shock mounts welded on the swingarm.

Got the base coat done on the body parts and finished the first color layer of the base on the wheels. It's urethane across the board on all items. It's my first time using the gun and overall I'm quite happy with the results. Also VERY happy with the 2k primer. The 2k primer was super smooth, I'm quite stocked for the 2k clear now.

Decided to paint the rear sprocket too (etching primer in the pick)..lol. Might as well, need some green contrast in the rear too.

Some more work happening this weekend as well.

I believe that right side bracket will absolutely fail at some point without a gusset, I suggest the top side to keep from interfereing with the chain adjusters. The shock is mounted in shear with the swing arm, and you are correct, the bending moment is right on the plane of the shock mount. And Aluminum fails without notice! Two small gussets from the flat side of the swing arm to the shock mount would prevent that from happening IMHO.

But man, don't think I am critisizing what you have done here- this bike is fantastic! Just another pair of eyes seeing a potentional load problem!

Don't think that is an issue now as the mount appears to be directly on the arm as per the left mount in the new pic's.

Good eye Zed. The original mounts were over engineered on purpose so I had material to shave off vs missing material, that was the design I asked for. When I started in fully dialling in the angles (after the previous pics I posted) and got the spacing down to the exact mm on both sides, the right mount end up moving closer in to the swingarm. This was also because I was able to get a few more threads in on the left side bolt. I also levelled the swing arm (shock mounts height wise) as the right side was slightly taller.

I know that last pic wasn't the best so I will take some more once I fully clean up the welds. The painting is the priority this weekend. If I have time I will clean up the swingarm and take more pics.

Overall I'm starting to get quite excited as two more major milestones are nearly completed, the paint and the swingarm/shocks. This is will get me my rolling chassis as I didn't want to remount the wheels until the clear is done on them.

The last remaining "major" obstacle is the new carb manifold. Then a whole bunch of smaller ones..

Base done just need some touch up on the wheels. Swingarm mounts all cleaned up.

That load path looks good now. Is your wheel going to be half white and half black?

Yes sir. The whole bike will be black and white with the tid bits of green. Also have some custom graphics for the bike once all the parts are clear coated.

i kinda like the flip flop black and white wheel combo .

still waitin to see you bring the candy cane striped header in and win me over tho !

Ya I like how the wheels turned out too. To be honest the candy cane exhaust to me sounded cooler in theory then execution but I decided to keep it but I'm not sure If I am sold on it as well so I am waiting until the end to see. Worst case I have have it solid black in a weekend.

Thanks man. Ya I'm getting excited as it's getting closer and I want to get to the point where I can tie it all together for everyone. I want it to be crazy yet cool and not gotti like the over done busa's and gixers, etc.

i hear ya on the header,i have had several ideas that looked better in my head than in real life .

and if it doesn't tie in like you want,like you say paint it black.

i'm just giving you a hard time.

it seems like you take it well .

i can't wait to see how it turns out.
