Running into some chain clearance issues and some close calls! 130 link DID vx chain. Purposely chose it for being a bit smaller at 23.3mm vs the standard 25-26 in the top of the line chains.

Getting help in this thread with my chain hitting my peg bolts.

www.kzrider.com/forum/5-chassis/570950-chain-clearances#602998

Also a little disappointed with the D&G adaptor plate. It has clearance issues, it touches a peg bung on the frame.

Noticed a few interesting things. My frame is braced! I noticed when I was reading a thread about bracing. The super charger actually braces the frame as well.

Second I found an old thread from 5 years ago. My engine is actually 1075 8:1 not 1045 7.8:1. The owner must have blown it once as I have the receipts for the 1045 stuff.

That's a bummer about the D&G plate. Looks like you could trim it easy enough, though you shouldn't have to when spending good money for a nice piece.

Ya i was disappointed about the d & g piece too. Like you guys said it can be ground off but it won't look 100% the same finish after doing so.

I have to say unless you do a project similar to this (like many have here) you cant appreciate the amount of effort and time that it takes to build a nice custom bike. The amount of hurdles we face on a daily basis building these machines is a bit trying. I also pretty much polish/clean every bolt I put back on by hand.

Shit even the other day getting the throttle to work right took several hours.

I am close. I am going to have it running this weekend. Running not mobile though. I will take a video.

I have new challenges. Both the new seat and gas tank mounts interfear with the carb and filter. I think my right side rear set bracket will interfear with the exhaust and have to be redone from scratch.

I have decided to save the paint for last. Something I should have thought of earlier.

I have found this to be true the hard way as well. Now, I actually assemble all the bike, ride it for a bit, make sure I don't have to fix anything, then tear it down and detail. Seems to be the only way to avoid messing up the paint with new mods LOL

Ya it's all lessons learned!

Next time will be easier and faster but at this point I have one more bike in the build queue collecting dust (TR-1) and then I think I will be good for while as want to the focus the time to enjoy them both.

But once I get the KZ road worthy here in the near future I have skipped some of the mods just to get things done this year mainly crafting the new manifold installing and tuning the new carb. I have been researching manifold designs for draw through motorcycle superchargers to make sure I get it right, my original design seems to meet the criteria. I worry about the lost tq at lower rpms with the super d carb.

I looked at mechanical fuel injection but I don't like the looks of the mechanical fuel pump on the motor.

Full fuel injection is too much of a pain in the ass with all the sensors and wiring.

I looked at PSI's genesis carb and its $$$ and I hear its problematic to tune despite their claims of easiness.

I then sometimes wonder if two smaller carbs would have been better than one big one. Problem there is the extra fab work to the carbs to work together properly which I think is a bit more of leap plus the extra size of that solution.

I was looking at my cfm calculations and it looks like I will be pushing 250+ cfm which is right up the super d's alley so I feel more comfortable but still concerned. Anyone know the stock cfm the kz flows with it's stock carbs?

I also think my alcohol injection is a little archaic so I want to tighten that up too along with a custom upper triple tree from Leon once I figure out what needs to go where.

Quoting myself this is what I need to mitigate the low end and large bore of the super d carb.. I wonder how much my bank account will suffer though.. But the devil side of my conscience says its motorcycle sex.

Keep in mind I plan on running no side covers so yo can see the filer or stack, what ever ends up there.. Side covers dont fit anyways with the bimota kit..

Well it appears my carb engineering thoughts sparked no conversation...back to work! lol.

I'm feeling good. Got through a bunch of critical path items.

Built new-new seat mount (cause of the carb filter in the way of the previous), the design came to me randomly on friday like doc and the flux capacitor.. no picks yet it was getting paint but the mount also utilises the stock seat lock!! :woohoo:

D&G outer bearing support came with no instructions..it took some figuring out on the clutch cable. I have these extra 2 parts that I have no idea what they are for?? They are threaded bungs..any idea's? Well I have to say the piece does look pretty bad ass in many aspects now that it's fully installed. I also torqued the counter shaft sprocket nut to a light 80lbs. I'm guessing that's ok. I read 60 and 100... so I wasn't sure.

My custom delrin piece is installed and thus the chain is installed!!

Fuel and exhaust is today. I "should" have a running video hopefully for you guys. Then off to San Diego for a week.
