So I achieved my goal of 1,000 miles this year. Still have a day or two to go to work the next couple days.

After I shot the pic I went around the block to finally turn it over. The previous owner turned it to 0 to show me that it worked, and I never touched it since. Pretty proud of myself, I thought in my timeframe (4 months) and as often as I rode it 1,000 would be a good goal. I almost called my insurance guy to swap the insurance over for the winter this weekend; I think I got one more week left.

Well I'm not seeing that in my forcast. After a couple days of 70 high it drops like a rock to 50 the rest of the week and next week. We'll see what happens at the end of this week.

And? That's a great time to get some cold weather riding in. Every motorcyclist should have a few miles under their belt in the colder weather.

As someone who himself rides year round, I wouldn't recommend it unless it's necessary. Otherwise, it's just more money on gear, more rust on the bike, and more risk of injury. It's just transportation at that point. I don't think anyone in their right mind actually enjoys riding in the winter.

I can get the point that it's good for new riders to "experience" cold weather riding, and I've done enough of that already. It's cold, I get it. I don't have winter gear, I'm set up for summer. A couple weeks ago my fingers were so numb I got pelted with a rock on my right knuckle and didn't realize I was bleeding all over myself until I got to work. Which reminds me to get full-fingered gloves tonight so I'll have 'em for tomorrow morning going to work. At 55 degrees my legs just start to go numb as I'm pulling into work, so that's my threshold....and I can't just layer on more clothes cause I work in an office; there's nowhere to change. I'd love to put on insulated gear but I'd be sweating my butt off at work.

This morning I was hoping to ride into work this morning, but it was only 40 degrees and I'm like "nope". Ten minutes later I'm getting ready for work and I get a call from my friend....says "Don't ride to work today!" and I go "you rode your bike today didn't you?" and he responds "yeah, it was a horrible mistake!...Don't ride your bike into work". It's nice out during the day, but before the sun comes up it's still very chilly from the night. Hopefully today's high of 70 will bring up tomorrows morning temperatures.

You can get a snowmobile suit that you can wear over your cloths, just unzip & take it off when you get to work

It was cold today. High 50's/low 60's. We'll have some more 80/90's but that can change day by day. Tomorrow I'm going to my daughter's in the High desert (4500') for another trip to OR. I have my face shield, new chaps, gloves and HD jacket made in CHINA in 86. I'm looking for a light turtle neck sweater to be just a little warmer. BRING ON WINTER. :woohoo:

Yeah but I'd have nowhere to put it on the ride home, my saddlebags barely fit my pair of work shoes. When it's 55 in the morning, it's like 70-75 after work.

Edit: I DO have a large backpack-like thing that's put over the sissy bar/seat, but I'm worried about high crosswinds on the highway, it can get VERY windy on my trip to work, it's very open.
