Tabs on top bevel gear case was created by Macki
Hi to the forum members,
I am new to KZs. But have lots of experience with cars and Honda bikes.
I recently bought a 1979 KZ1000st. I am taking the motor apart and have a stupid question. While taking the shaft drive bevel gear case, I snapped one of the three rectangular tabs on top.
It doesn't seem they do anything, or do they. Should I worry about that or? Thanks

Yep, those tabs. What are they for. Don't seem to do anything, except causing grief when someone accidentally break them.
maybe that's the purpose, to separate KZ experts from newbies?
thanks for the info.
I am redoing the bike from frame up and I'm sure to have more questions. And likely need some parts also.
Cheers.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I'm guessing that it's a guide for your alternator wiring. It is weldable and/or rebuildable by a good welder.

Those tabs are cable guides.
One missing won't really cause an issue so either weld it back on or just tidy the rough area where it broke off with a file.
