I live in the desert too. I have a large wash the goes corner to corner on my 5 acres. It can be a torrent in seconds. I'll delete your removed posts.

Last time i looked, PMC has a bracing kit listed in their catalogue. You could contact Z1E and ask if they can order it.

My frame is an 81 GPZ1100 though. Not sure if it's in kit form.

I thought it would save on cutting all the pieces if I can find a kit.

Don't see anything on PMC's site though.

After I get my 440 back together and caught up on shop and house projects, If someone provides the appropriate frame and/or, as well as their knowledge with the Z1, 9 and/or 1k, cause I havent got a clue other than the 900 has a front wheel I want :P Also help from such individual in measuring, marking, cutting and fitting, I wouldn't mind opening the shop doors on a weekend to bang some bars out for the community B) I'm no motorcycle expert by any means, but Ive been told that my mutant power is the ability to easily spot problems and fabricating problem solving?
Also, I'm not in any way trying to step on anyone's toes or gain customers, he'll chances are it may not even happen? (that is unless you wanted to turbocharge your car :P ) sooo yeah,

Cheap labor isn't skilled, skilled labor isn't cheap.

The '81/'82 KZ1000J, and the '81/'82 GPz1100 frames were designed after what Kawasaki learned in the '80 Superbike program. They are a real good frame in their standard form. Even the KZ1000S1 Superbike road racer that Kawasaki sold back in 1982 used the KZ1000J frame with just ONE extra frame brace!!!!! It was that good of a frame design even for their Superbike racer. !!!! There was even a couple of AMA Superbike racers that stuck the early model motor into a stock framed KZ1000J Superbike back in 1981, and they said it was better than their early model modified framed bikes. I got a couple of pictures of one of those bikes at Daytona somewhere!!!

I owned and raced a KZ1000Si back then, and it handled almost as good as the Superbike that I built back then. Now my Kz1000 that I built started with a Rob North/ Pierre DesRoche modified frame. Why don't you just get a nice swing arm, and a pair of Ohlins piggyback shocks with your GPz frame, and I think you will be impressed!!!!

Well maybe it all stops right here then. (and thanks you guys for the tips).
So you recommend I don't need to modify it then.
Already have the swing arm DR G,

My goal is more power though cams or head work but on a decent handling frame.

This bike is still in transit to me so I don't know how it will handle and feel.

I did read lots about rubbery frames on the web though.
But that might just be with with sticky slicks and on the track.

I also really miss those 3 rd gear roll on powerlifts my old superbike did.
Hoping for that feeling again with this.
I also remember switching to roller bearings in the head tube on another bike and wow what a difference.
Not sure if mine has those or not.

I just want the bike to be as good as it can be....within reason. I know it's only steel tubing.
Would love to see your pics DR Gamma

Your bike looks real nice in my book!!! What kind of throttle is that?? Looks like the old Yoshimura 1/4 turn I found for my old Superbike.

A few other things I also did to my S1 was replace those rubber mount pieces with the solid aluminum mounts that Sid Pogue made back in the early 80's. And I made up an oversize swing arm bolt. I could not believe the amount of clearance between the frame boss, and the stock swing arm bolt!!!! It had to be at least .030 between both. Just imagine what .030's of play there ends up at the rear axle!!!! That's one of the first things I noticed on all of the Muzzy built Kz1000's was a different swing arm bolt. Gee, I wonder why!!!

My machinist made me up a fixture that fit into the frame, and had a adjustable ream on the other end that opened up that side of the frame to the oversized bolt. Then I flipped it around and did the other side of frame. That way both sides of the frame were basically line-bored. Then I just honed the inner swing arm bushings to like a .001~.002" clearance to the oversized swing arm bolt. I have to tap my swing arm bolt into place. A lot of work, but it made a HUGE difference on my home built KZ1000 back then!!!

I don't know about that throttle since I didn't build the bike. So can't answer that one sorry.
