Steve, I would like your opinion on the color of my plugs...
This is with one-step colder spark plugs, and the RS34 flat slide carbs which will probably stay on the bike for a while.
Have 27.5 pilot jets installed for the mid-40's to 60's air temps currently in W. Michigan. Will probably drop to 25's when warmer weather arrives.
I'm going to attempt a short ride video with my cell phone camera if I can make that work.

My $.02. They look about as good as your going to get. Dry black full circle on the base ring. Nice tan color on the center ceramic. And a color change on the earth strap in the correct spot… Ride it like you stole it!
My only suggestion is to get a magnifying glass and look down inside at the bottom of the ceramic and look for shiny specs. It would indicate detention, if present it actually microscopic pieces of the piston getting exploded off.

Mine looked like that at first. The more miles I put on the new bores the better the plugs look.

Didn't see that strap color with the standard hotter plugs...thank you zed1015 for the spark plug heat range recommendation.
The ceramic had consistent color from top to bottom, with no aluminum specks visible way down in there. While I was cleaning carbon off the pistons recently, I saw no evidence of detonation on those surfaces either.
Thanks again

Chances are the heat range was to hot and the color on the earth strap was either not changing or it was right at the base ring. Either way you wouldn’t see it!
Here’s a good reference.

I ordered a set of bearings last night. I'll use these to balance the tire then change them when they come.

Is there a casting number on the crush drive. It looks similar to the one Mr E was looking for that fits a 77-78 rear spoke with disc

If there is it's not legible. There was a ink number followed by a cast one but the ink came off when I tried to clean it. It is smaller that my Z1/KZ900 sprocket carrier.
