I also buy what I want, but there are a few things I never do when I see a possible purchase. I don't act on emotion, and if I'm not completely educated on a bike...I ask. I've learned a lot in this thread, and thank all who chimed in. My ultimate decision will be a result of knowing a lot more about these bikes. Even though I had a 78 KZ650 years ago, things change regarding value and other factors and I haven't kept up on them. This particular 900 is the best I've seen for some time in my searching, just needed some input. I haven't been aggressively looking...but my radar is always up for these. I will eventually get one, it's just which one I settle on.

Whenever I think I'm paying too much for a bike I ask myself, in this case, "What kind of car can you get for $5000. anyway?", then I go and pay too much for the bike.
