HI
Went to see tonight the 1981 GPZ clone ERL.
Drop the price down to 800$.
Bike start and run like a charm but....
It a fuel injection system and the guy told that the bike stall when hot. Is this the problem with the FI?
If I would like to install carburator, would a set from a spectre 1100 fit on it?
Beside that, it sound real good with the kerker exhaust.
It seem that the exhaust smoke a little bit. Probably the valve seal.... is this a big $$$ job to fix?
Thanks for your help!

Joce:
For US$800.00 I wouldn't hesitate to buy that bike... BUT, I know how to do those types of upgrades/repairs. Here is the problem with the 1981 FI, it was prone to failure. So, the stalling when hot MAY be a FI problem. A big consideration in converting from FI to carbs is that the fuel injectors on the 1981 model are directly attached to the head; so, either those FI holes must be plugged, or the entire head replaced with a later model J head. BS34 carbs (as found on the 1100 Spectre) are frequently used as they are readily available and parts are common. Replacing valve stem seals, although simple, can be somewhat expensive...the seals are inexpensive, but the special tools can be expensive (unless you are able to fabricate your own or borrow tools). If you attempt this I strongly recommend you buy a Kawasaki shop manual before your begin.

Tks for the info.
The fabrication date is 11/81 and the infector are in the throtle body..... is this an 1982??????????????????????????????
If this is an 1982, Spectre carburator would be alomost a bolt on?

Yes, it is a 1982 KZ1100B2 (if the injectors are w/throttle bodies). It means you don't have to switch heads to convert to carbs...I suggest you email wiredgeorge at
www.wgcarbs.com
regarding the carb conversion. He knows how to do it and what problems you might encounter (and which carbs and settings will be good). BUT, before you jump into that, do something simple like change the fuel filter to see if this clears up your presumed FI troubles (personally, I'd try and salvage the original FI and only convert to carbs as a last resort).

Me again.
Here is the final deal I'm thinking of.
This is crazy you'll see:
1982 GPZ 1100 GPz seen in the picture over here
1984 Z1100R ELR original (blue Sylver) n 9/10 condition
3 additionnal complete and running 1982 GPZ 1100 (all red) Those are nice but need soem attention
1 1982 GPZ 750 (missing carbs)
plus a bunch of parts for theos bike
Price for all that: 8000$ CDN.
What I need to know is, what is the value of the 3 1982 GPZ 1100. From what the guy said. With all the parts I coul;d get a least 2 perfect one.
Tks guys!

Hey Joce
Dont you think all those bikes are a little to much for you, lots of work and sounds like you dont know alot about these particular machines. Just my opinion.
