Picked up this one owner KZ900 today, 9800 miles parked in 2003. Will start picking away at it soon I planned to clean carbs and put battery in to check mechanical and electrical out and go from there.

Very solid. Just FYI, it has Z1A-B carbs.

Mikaw thanks for that, would have been a problem when ordering carb parts.

Pull the plugs and put marvel mystery oil in them while you work on other stuff. Open the carbs and post pictures. Don’t butcher them up by trying to install “Kits” I’d be willing to bet, unless they are completely trashed, that you can reuse all the brass. Nessism should be able to help you with ORings, buy good gaskets. No rubber evilbay stuff. Go to Jets r Us, Nichecycle or Sudco.

Hard to believe there are still gems like this sitting in sheds waiting to be rescued, looks completely unmolested (except by critters !!)

I’m jealous. I’d love to find a jem like this. I’d do a mechanical restoration and drive it as is.

You really have something here.
How is the inside of the tank I’m afraid to ask?

Agree with all said.  You have found yourself an interesting machine.  I look forward to seeing more as you get to know it better.

Tank that's on the bike I don't believe is original to bike, it appears to have been coated and looks real good. Also have an original paint tank which was probably the original, coating inside is flaking off there are no soft spots at all and paint is pretty good. Under the seat was the tool kit, owners manual with warranty kard ( spelled with a k )

Nice find indeed, I find it odd that it has early VM28's on it with it showing such low miles. Would be interesting to see the engine ID#.

Removed carbs to clean, must have been drained of fuel before parking, jets look good but inlet throats on a couple of carbs had crud.
