1973 Z1 Maui

Looking at that tank the first words that came into my mind were, "Wow! What were they thinking damaging that tank?"  It is in rough shape and I hope it works out okay in the end.  I would have to weigh my options carefully with that one and get some really good advise from people in the know.

Ralph sent instructions which I am grateful for. I sent them to Oahu so he could have a look. 

I put it back on two wheels today so I can work on getting the lower half of the motor in the frame.
so far so good. Lots of details to work on. 
ive also decided to name the project. I’ve never done that.
this bike is being assembled to hopefully resist our marine environment and this bike is also old so I’m naming it
Paani Kupuna
which loosely translates from Hawaiian as
Tropical Old Timer.
im working on cleaning the tank, getting it ready to go for repair and paint.

You scrubbed them so hard you twisted the "S"!!!

yes, I thought the S was an odd font. I never noticed it before.
I had to drill out two of the 3mm screws, the heads had rusted. I was careful and drilled them to fit a small easy out I have, the holes cleaned right up. Lucky

It's an interesting illusion caused by the "A" on either side of the "S". 
If you look at the angled lines at beginning and end of the "S", they match that found in the rest of the letters.

Right now I'm trying an electrolysis setup to see if I can get some rust out of the tank. It's not too bad but I'd like to clean it up some

I've used Metal Rescue....very effective.

Metal rescue is my new best friend. Rusted chrome turns out great. 

EDIT: I soaked the turn signal ground wire in it and they came out like new. The ones with the large brass ring terminal.
