As for instrument bulbs.
yes, they come with what look like T3 wedge sockets and 5w bulbs. I suspect the extra wattage can have an effect on the lenses due to heat. Has anyone found an LED bulb that fits? That would prevent the heat issue.

Maybe? If not they have several others to pick from. I bought all my LEDS from here

I forgot to check the model number for my bulbs.  Pretty sure they are 3 watt and commonly found.  Will try to remember to check tomorrow.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

According to Partzilla, they're the same 12V3W bulbs as my '77 KZ1000A1 uses, part #92069-018  I have a few I've ordered from them.  www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/92069...36b47f9a6cb5af51bda2

Back in the saddle and loving it! KZ1000A1

I decided on the Doremi lights.
also, John Brookes doesn’t have any gauge cushions, he sent a template, I shouldn’t have much trouble recreating some.I have some great material here to use. He got back to me right away, very helpful.

Are you able to share said template?

OK, here are the bulbs I use.  They are GE 53.  They are 3 watt.  Originals are 3.4 watt Stanley.  (shown on the left in the photo). Also shown are two rebuilt Z1 dash panel harnesses.  Since I have two I can part with one for the cost of shipping plus a $20 donation to the KZRider site.  PM me if you want it.

Thank you for the great offer. I’m actually waiting for the instrument illumination harness, I have the dash panel one already.

Body sets, body sets
Both Z1 Enterprises and Z1 parts.net sell body sets
Z1 Ent and Z1 parts net have a set made in Japan
Z1 parts net also has a set made in San Diego, it’s a few hundred dollars less
I’m not letting a few hundred make my decision on this already expensive project, I just wonder which set is the best
Anyone have any experience with these?
My existing side covers, tank and tail are in ok shape but the paint is horrible, I don't think I'll have any luck getting them painted here. The original tank is bashed in. I'm keeping it all of course.

Ralph at Paintworkz www.paintworkz.com/ sells paint with instructions.  I used his paint for my Z1B's.  You could order some and have it done at a local shop.  They would deal with any dents as well.  But if you're determined to go repro I would recommend Doremi bodywork.  I think Z1E sells Doremi but you should ask before purchasing.  Or, you could buy from Webike, here.

If this is going to be a daily rider the aftermarket stuff is fine. As HRM mentioned Paintworkz seems the paint. Diablo cycle sells decals

I’ve contacted Ralph at paintwerkz. We’ll see how it goes.
I also found two instrument harnesses on eBay, maybe the last two in captivity. Weird that Doremi doesn’t make them.
ouch
