I vote for the new option mounted below the tail light.
As mentioned , I am glad our plates are small here in the USA

You need to get together with all your fellow bikers and petition the government for a license plate that's not the size of a barn door. Those are a ridiculous size for a motorcycle.

I like the plate up under the seat more than below. It’s not subtle but it’s simpler. Simpler is better.
And that plate makes one heck of a splash guard.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure we'd get very far with a petition
I'm on the road for a bit. Will make a second bracket for the top when I get back - the bracket is one of the few things I can chop and change without getting approval, so I can have two ready to go and decide later.
Will make the new one out of two bits of 8mm bar to try and hide it as much as possible.

Finally got the countershaft sprocket and rear wheel aligned properly and then stripped the frame. I just need to redo the brackets for the tail section so it actually lines up with the tank and seat. After that it's time to start painting.
I got a chain guard from a local guy but it needed a bit of work, it was made for the stock shock angle. The guy I got it from did the welding - I would have definitely made a mess of it. Also made a guard for the brake line out of some PVC. It is just there to stop the braided line eating into the paint on the swingarm.

Coming together nicely, it's all the little bits that eat the time. I can't believe I'll be a year in at the end of this month. I had hoped to be a lot further along

Got some test pieces for the paintwork done today. The yellow matches the shocks and the green is the '76 A4 green. I didn't do the candy layer properly (not enough time between coats) as it was just to test the colours, but it still turned out OK.
These are the best photos I managed to take. What do you guys reckon, green or blue?

tough call... they both look really good.
Heads: Green
Tails: Blue
flip the coin and (while it's in the air) if you hope it lands on a particular side, pick that color.
I think if the green were a little darker/more olive, I'd say go with that.

I like the green, personally. The blue is very nice also, but sort of plain to me.
