Time to turn my kz1000 into a resto mod.

I got all the bugs worked out on my 80 kz1000 so I bought a zx7 cheap and I'm collecting parts for the build.
Swapping in the front end and rear swingarm with the mono shock.
Glad there is so much information on what I need on here.

Hi, you 80 LTD looks great.... love the way super bike bars makes the LTD series into a muscle bike. That being said IMHO you should find another 900 or 1000 for your project. just saying......

That is a beautiful LTD.
If you chop it, sell me the seat and ducktail so I can make mine will look like that bike.
Personally I would keep it the way it is.
Maybe a chin scoop and small fairing around the headlight.
I put KYB shocks on the back raising it 5mm and plan to upgrade the fork springs and add an emulator.
Slightly more aggressive stance and with the fork upgrade will pretty well max out the ability of that old tubular frame.
You can buy that resto mod already chopped up.
People don't seem to keep them after they're done.

it really looks like a NICE Kz1000. Will that be an "improvement? I guess you want to turn it into a zx7? What a waste IMHO. I would fix the ZX7 and have 2 bikes, but that's just how >I< operate.

My plan is to keep it as stock appearing as possible with better suspension and wheels.
Like this one in the picture except more polished aluminum and chrome.
I bought the kz1000 at a estate sale so I don't have much information about it.
He was a motorcycle drag racer and the motor is built judging by all the spare parts and aftermarket parts on it.
Doesn't seem so fast to me but my other bikes are a ducati 1098s and klx400r supermoto .
I always owned ninjas my whole life.

No bike is too far from saving. It all depends on how bad you want to save it. My LTD lays waste to every bike I run across, but I do not ride with our local motorcycle maniacs.. the "Street Fighterz". If it turns out like the one pictured above, that IS a sweet looking ride! It's the cobbled up messes that myself and my friends on KZR try to discourage (watch Steve's video) .



Sirrocco has done the monoshock and front end swap.. I know he's watching all the way from Germany. He has a thread on the build here something about a deep sleep mode.. He'll chime in shortly.

Yes i will finish my mono shock rear end mod, (bolt on mono and twin shock) but want to do some miles first this summer on twin shock.
And a little spoiler what next to my bike: EFI

BTW: the Special engine brackets are for an Suzuki 1100 engine swap.
