It says to check with bike on centre stand. However this is with stock rear shocks. I found that when I replaced the stock shocks with ones that were slightly taller I needed to check with both wheels on the ground otherwise the chain ended up to tight or had a tight spot with a repetitive click. A tight chain can damage bearings at the front sprocket.

Bike is riding great accept... on Monday she died on me as I was on my way home from work. I couldn't get her started again without a portable jumper battery hooked up. As soon as I removed the jumper she would quickly die. Battery was drained. I left her in a lot, walked home in 94 degree heat (jacket and helmet in tow) unhooked my camper (was leaving that evening for a week), hooked up my trailer and went to pick her up. Got her home and set her up on the trickle charger. I got back yesterday and she is fine. Starts right up, runs like a top. So, any suggestions on steps I can take to trouble shoot the electrical charging issue? Is it possible I drained the battery running hi-beams all the time? Thanks folks.

Been like that for a while. Make them shiny again or it'll keep getting hotter.

I cleaned them up and put it back together. It was disconnected and arcing is my guess.

Got off easy. I like EASY.

After you fix up the wiring you might want to verify the charging system function. If you rev up the engine to 5000 rpm or so the charge voltage should be between 14.0-14.5 VDC when measured across the battery. The battery must be properly charged before testing.

Thank you. I plan to measure the voltage tonight after it's been charging all day.

Looks like the battery and charging system are operating appropriately by my understanding

Hey guys. I just wanted to post a hardy Thank You to everyone who contributed in helping me get this bike back on the road. I haven't been posting because I've been tuning and riding. :laugh: This winter I'll start working on cosmetics for this 750 and try to get the 440 up and running. Until then I plan on enjoying the ride. Anyhow, just checking in. Thanks again.
