I can use both, they are both black and fit with a few bolts.

Rear wheel fitted and it looks like I have enough clearance withe the chain and the swingarm.
Wil find out tomorrow B)

Thought I was ready with the dirty parts..........Not! :pinch:
Forgot the oil pan, and I already had the new bolt set so..


Learned from this forum somewhere not to put the old bolts on one pile because then you forget where to put the new ones with different length :)


Nice and clean.

Now I need some help.


I am sure I need a washer between the spring and the oil filter but I only have this copper one left. (think the original one is in the fame somewhere)
According to the manual there needs to be a 22mm O ring fitted on the drain plug but when I do this it squeezes out when I install it.
So....is the copper washer for the drain plug and do I need a bigger metal washer for the filter??

Not sure about your particular model but normally,there would be an o-ring on the filter shaft and a crush washer (copper or aluminium) on the drain bolt.

Coming along well Eric.

Not sure about the big KZs, but the 650 uses a thin metal washer between the spring and filter, so the spring's end does not gouge the filter I think.
The washer is just a little wider than the spring.

An aluminum or copper washer on the drain plug should do the trick.

Just what I thought, the copper one should be on the drain plug and the metal one ended up on my swingarm :)
The manual talks about an O ring on the drain plug but that squeezes out when you tighten it.

Chain fitted and clearance looks OKe.








Probably need some kind of hard plastic cover over the swingarm like Leon has to protect it from the movement of the chain.

Also need to buy a special tool to close the link of the endless chain.
The spring type seems not reliable enough.

Very happy for you that youre ok on the chain clearance over the achterbrug ( Im still stumped by mine). It looks like when the bike is off the paddock stand and free standing youll have a bit more and when youre sitting on it even more.
What about the clearance by the shock though? When youre sitting on it, the chainline will move higher. Will it clear the spring ok? By how much?

Looks like it will clear but need to get it of the stand to be sure.
First a few days on the job and then next week some big steps, brakes and carbs.
