Came home tonight and tried to start. It fired up but took a minute and then when I gave it throttle it would stick wide open. Kept killing and starting and same thing. Also revved up when I turned bars. Figured out I routed the throttle cable wrong and it must have been pinching. I routed correctly and it started fine and kept a nice idle and returned when I left off throttle.

Took for its maiden voyage after not running for six years. Went about 10 miles and it ran great. Quick and smooth. Didn't over do it but nice steady power and nice roll on. Shifted fine and everything is working. Very happy!!

Thanks to all for their help, suggestions and support. Greatly appreciated!

Now it's time to finish the details and get some miles on this project.

I have seen these pipes - they look very nice. I did remount the Kerker and it is loud. Basically a straight pipe. I will probably keep it on until I get some extra cash to get this system.

My project hit a snag as it would start to stumble after it warmed up - ran fine for about 10 miles and then felt like it was running on 3 cylinders. This repeated about 3 times. Decided to do some checking and this is what came out of the first float bowl:

I guess I didn't do a very good job cleaning the tank - it had some rust. Ran Evaporust through and rinsed. Obviously a lot of residue rust. Starting over with tank and also taking carbs off to clean again and test fuel level. Hated taking off carbs again - real pain in the ass to put on. Oh well, at least I have figured out what was wrong.

Absolutely. This week I will clean tank again and clean out carbs - again. A fuel filter is a must. Hopefully back on the road by this weekend.

Sucks going through the trouble of cleaning the carbs to have bad fuel spoil it...
Oh well... At least the thing was running well for a while..
Take care!

My bike issues continue. I elaborated on them in another thread under Carburetter. It runs great until about 6 miles and then starts to stumble. It gets progressively worse until it feels like it is running on 1 cylinder. Dies when at a stop. Don't think it is carb related as everything checks out on that end. Getting fuel, etc., Someone suggested coils. That will be my next test.

Electronics would make sense to me based on the symptoms, since many (not all but many) electronic issues get worse as temperature increases. By 6 miles the bike is fully warmed up and up to temp, so that means the electronics are as well. I could see how that could be related, but hope you find out soon and get it back on the road!

Best of luck man!
