I don't think so...
I guess people are now used to seeing Harleys to the point where KZPs are now seen as a novelty.
My wife was worried about women flocking to me, but I calmed her nerves letting her know that the bike is only a dude-magnet! LOL
I have never had a bike which attracts as much attention as this one!!!! Every red light or fuel stop is peppered by thumbs-up and all kinds of questions about the bike.
I even had a guy riding a Victory Cross Country Cruiser ask me if my name was Ponch... :laugh: :laugh:
It's all good fun...

All that abuse, cop work, escort work,hard upshifts and downshifts, take offs and hard stops most likely resulted on a stripped 2nd gear... These bikes are strong, but ultimately the hard duty does take its toll.
I was a bit heartbroken to go through such a lengthy build only to miss a tore up transmission, so I rode the bike as it was until the "winter" came to Miami.
I waited patiently until the temperature "dropped" into the upper 70's (25 Celsius) so that I could take on this next project, as I would have to do it on my friend's backyard...long gone are those days when I could work on my bike from the comfort of my AC... :lol: :lol:
Kinda sucks going back on your work, but oh well...

Thankfully I bought a parts bike way back... remember? This was a great investment as I had a ready to go tranny ready to drop in... (fingers crossed for a good 2nd gear..)
The balance...:
- Total cost of job, under $100 between gaskets, silicone, oil, filter...
A couple of weekends work... I was taking my time..

My hat is off to you for seeing this project thru. Especially to having done most of the work in a apartment .

Just dropping a screw in the grass mixed with sand would frustrate the crap out of me. I'd be freaking out about contaminating the engine with abrasives. You are truly a trooper in this labor of love.
I feel fortunate to have a 10X10' workshop / shed to work in.

This is by no means a finely built machine, as the ones usually featured on the bike of the month, but they instead an expression of hardheadedness and determination. I am humbled by the offer and will undust the wife’s SLR to take a few proper pictures.

I have a 4x10 storage, where I initially stored the KZ, but It is taken by my other project at the time, and really useless in the heat of summer...
Yes... working on the sand in Flatistan is not easy... In fact, I dropped a shift-fork c-clip into the sand when tried to take it out.. thankfully I found it using a magnet...
Not only that, we received a couple of "cold fronts" during the time I was working on the bike, so the whole thing got rained on, I was using tarps to work so nothing got wet, but went through great lengths to cover the whole thing in case something like that happened...
Sucky working conditions, but not enough to discourage me ...

Actually the shed is one of the main reasons I bought my cozy little crib!
I wired it for electric, and lights. I only ran a 120VAC 20 amp circuit to it, but it seems to work ok running my 5 hp compressor and my little MIG seems to like it ok too, just not at the same time.
I AM living the dream!
