- Attack life, it's only trying to kill you.
here is the upper triple bolted down getting the steering stem boss that was underneath cut off.
i ended up cutting 5.5 mm off which is what it took to match the top of the kz stem.
then i had to bore the steering stem hole out to match the kz stem, which was bigger than the zx hole.

Leon's pretty well set up for a home machine shop. I see that you have your own boring head. I'm jealous.
When I grow up I wanna be like you.

all pieces fit together.
i have ordered some material to build the bar clamps out of,it should be here in a couple days.i still need to weld the stem in,and cut some pockets in the underneath side of the upper triple to get a flat spot to bolt the risers.
we're getting there .

would it be easier to weld the risers to the top of the clamp and tap holes for bolts thats the bar clamps can bolt though?

knee surgery?dang that will slow you down some i suppose.i forgot about your tornado damage, have you gotten it all repaired?we haven't had much snow although the temp has been down to 9 degrees and several days in the teens, that kept me in the house.
@testarossa,
i finally broke down and ordered that boring head i had been wanting it.as it seems i have been on a steering stem conversion run for awhile now.i think i have converted seven different triples and stems.from a kx65 to klx110,to a 1967 bsa to a late model ktm frontend(rc8?)that went to norway, and several kz conversions in between(for folks all over the globe).i used to use my rotary table to open up the upper triple stem holes.now with the adjustable boring bar,set up is easier and faster and i get a bunch better finish.i buy tools and tooling whenever i get some cash that isn't spoken for(which isn't very often  )but it seems for the last few years i have bought 3 to 5 nice pieces of tooling per year.i do not want for much right now as far as doing what i want for myself and other's where machine and fab work is concerned.
like one of the guys on home shop machinist said,.
"a man with a lathe and mill don't have to put up with much crap"
plus i get to work on some pretty cool stuff sometimes, and help out fellow gearheads.because not many machine shops will do little onesy jobs, and that is what i like.something different everytime.
thanks for the compliments guys,i am just fortunate to be a part of this community and try to help anyone i can keep these old bikes(and others )on the road for years to come.

looks great Leon. now im green as they come, so if you like, just tell me to shut up....
would it be easier to weld the risers to the top of the clamp and tap holes for bolts thats the bar clamps can bolt though?
easier?maybe,negligible.
but if we machine and bolt them we can always build different ones and just bolt em on if you decide we need something forward or backwards or taller or shorter

Last thunder-stealing moment here, I promise: Yeah, basically everything is "on the mend". Tornado fix drained the 'projects' funds so the CB1100F isn't here ... yet :pinch: ; and the garage is half-done. Reader's Digest version: I'll get it all handled this summer. The knee is meniscus repair from a dirt-bike wad 20 years ago (the 27 years of sports surely has nothing to do with it! ... every year I get older, every year they don't! ... WTF is that!!!) ... oh well, one more day of crutches, then rehab ... I hope.
Done whining! ...onward boys, ONWARD!
