ok Larry. let me see if i get this.....if i buy the zx7r front m/c i need just this lever? www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/19...-us/o/m4154#sch71574

and then i would have to buy this whole assembly? www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/19...-us/o/m4154#sch67738

itll be hard to find a 95 clutch assembly. would i have to buy new oem? $$$.

let me know im all confused.

Correct, if you want to use those parts. There might be some Yamaha suff tyhat will work. Most everything has a hydraulic clutch on it these days. I was happy to be able to get the Zx6 mechanical clutch parts.

What you want to make sure of is both of the levers are the same color. Kaw had some silver and some black. I bought the new OEM clutch perch assembly and lever. You may be able to find after market for a bit less.

Might give Z1E a shout for those items.

i allready have the front and rear caliper/rotors off the zx7r. i really just want to keep this as simple as possible. i know when doing a build like this simple is usually not an option, but i am not sure what parts i can buy from the guy with the zx7r without buying parts i cant use. i know your trying to help Larry, but my poor lil head is just going in circles over here.

this is the email i got from the guy...what do i need from these parts?

joe, I can sell you the front brake master cylinder/perch and lever, the rear master cylinder and front and rear brake lines for $100 shipped. You can view all of these parts in my ebay store. let me know. also, joe, I have both footpeg assemby's. My ebay asking price is $90 apiece. Your price is $55 apiece. I can ship them with the other stuff if you buying at the same time. You can view them both in my ebay store.

the stem is bigger than the hole(ideal marriage?:silly: )and will require boring the triple to be a slip fit for the stem.

joe, here is the bottom of the zx stem(steel)with the kz stem(steel) pressed in to it.

larry chose to use a set screw to secure the two together, which has the advantage of making the stem removable.
in the past i have welded the two together for a permanent fix.you would have to have it machined to separate it.
the zx stem has a snap ring on the bottom od of the stem that locks against a step in the bottom of the lower triple preventing it from being pulled through the triple when tightend.
the kz stem has a step around the bottom od of the stem below where the lower race rides.
so when the two are locked together the snap ring prevents it coming up and the step prevents it going down.
my question to you joe is do you want it welded together or set screwed sir  ?

leon

I can't picture the set screw - anyone have an example photo? I follow to this point and even understand welding the two together, but how would you use the set screw?

i would spotface a spot on the back of the triple and drill a hole that went all the way through the triple, the zx stem(bushing now)and through the kz stem then tap it and put a small bolt through and locktite it in place.thereby captureing the kz stem into the zx triple with no worries about the kz stem getting pulled back up outta the whole mess.

Would you tap the hole in the stem or use a bolt inside the stem to hold it?

83 GPz11 shifter Joe. Any reverse / linkage type shifter can be made to work as long as the splines fit the KZ shift shaft.
