Start with 1 $160 mechanics lien bike from local honda dealer. Remove dented coffin tank an' pitch. KZ 650 tank fell off the shelf an' landed right on it, cut the front tank pins .250" an' use same rubbers. 84 ninja 900 is a unique design with a small subframe that holds the rear suspension and bolts to rear of the engine. whittle some spacers an' tig it in. notice that this subframe has its own kick and centerstand. Add an extra motor mount so that dang bolt don't bend. more to come.

I got cool pics but they gotta be scaned & shrunk, I,m workin' on it. One thing to note is this work was all done 8yrs. ago. [strike]This bike is for sale in the classified section[/strike] (witch you can't see if your not registered, if i'd a known) if you want to see the outcome. I didn't want to find out how much power a shaft would hold so that stuff on the floor followed the coffin tank, hope no one needed it. This will be chain. I was originally going to grab the mk2 engine an' call it a day, but closer inspection of the frame, mainly the extra 2" of clearance on the drive side where the swing arm goes in got the wheels rollin'. I had see a lot of wide tire conversions at the drag strip and they all had some form of hoakyness goin' on so this was the answer. Perfectly centered rear tire and straght chain. 5/8" ofset sprocket, support plate, an' 6" wheel, standard stuff. NO FRAME JIG 101. #1 Before you molest anything, have a plan. #2 before you molest anything, mark rear wheel centerline on the frame above rear wheel. #3 Molest away swingarm only, when you new arm/wheel meets the mark your good. #4 molest your rear sub/frame to the tire. #5 don't mess with the neck! Straight bikes don't tankslap an' don't turn west at 30lbs of boost. notice in pics above that the swingarm bolt goes through the shaft frame and the ninja subframe with the bearing bushings inbetween. Ninja parts are cool. Got somethin' for you chain frame guys too. more to come, out.

I spent 4 yrs. buildin' this thing an' the suspense is killin' YOU! I've seen 2 types of mk2 cases chain & shaft. But the shaft cases will accept chain guts. The only parts you need are KZ/mk2 shift drum, shift fork shaft, shift forks, mk2 shifter shaft/lever, Mk2 output shaft, an' mk2 trans cover. Shaft cases have 2 shift fork shaft holes, be sure to put it in the right hole. Or do the GPZ conversion like I did. Big clunky don't break, almost as big as a busa trans, fit it 'n' forget it. Schnitz racing, R&D trans, or Gast can help. I also opted for the "all up" shift drum, neutral on the bottom, helps 1-2 shift cause there's no neut there. Index the neut light to light in 1st gear. don't forget undercut. This surfin' a lota work, pics soon, out

Startin' to look like somethin'. Check out how sweet the kick and centerstand came out. No more dragin' the stocker. Swinger done now I can mess with the frame.

Chain frames heres a big fat bone for ya. This is my buddys bike. he used an 84 ninja 750 setup and did it very similar to what I did, it ain't big tire but very cool. I rode it, Very nice. Steering quite a bit quicker and more stable with that little tire on the front. Spring rates a little soft for my tastes, but better than a stocker.

Heres the new front clip. KZ 1300 tree, 41mm tubes, stock brakes, stock rotors mounted to custom rotor hats, an' toped off with a magna fender. The 17" front wheel gives the stock brakes better leverage.
