Thanks Wayne! As far as the miles, it has 37K on the clock. With the exception of all the carbon build up, all the internals look fantastic. Once I thoroughly cleaned everything and checked clearances/tolerances, it all looked brand new. I dont think this bike was ever ridden more than 25 miles per hour! I did replace all gaskets, seals, and o rings, as well as a new cam chain. Also installed a full polished stainless bolt kit from "Alloy Bolt Guy" on E Bay, they look fantastic. Oh, and I will be ordering up a new oil pressure switch, I cant have an ugly yellowed one on this shiny motor can I? he he

Wow! I have not looked at your bike in quite a while. It looks beautiful!!! Is your frame stock in the back? Did you cut and modify it at all? You just cleaned it up? It looks real nice.

Thanks for the compliments B)

As far as the frame goes, I took it down to bare minimum, and then added some bracing. The rear sub frame is still in stock form, just a lot of de tabbing.

Myro, the crankcase breather filter is a UNI, the part # is UP-104. I picked it up at a local cycle shop. I am sure any of your local cycle shops could order you on up. I think I remember paying $17.50 for it.

I posted the seat building process on page one of this thread (it is about half way down). As far as how difficult it is to build a seat, it really depends on your skill level, and how familiar you are with the mold/fiberglass procedure. There are a lot of easy ways to build a seat, and then there are the more involved ways like mine with a mother mold. To find a seat for two up riding might be a real chore for your police bike, as the frames are completely different than a standard KZ, and the seat is specific. But if you do want to make one, it really isnt that hard.

For your engine re build, first and foremost, get a manual if you dont already have one, and spend a lot of time reading and familiarising yourself with it. I highly recommend a Clymers. Second, and almost as foremost, dont be intimidated by it. Think about it this way, it is just a bunch of nuts and bolts, with a few other parts in the mix. Easy peasy. There is a lot of good info on this forum in the tech section.

When assembling the SS bolts to Aluminum, always use a little Anti-seize, as it prevents galling. A little goes a long ways. Usually the first few threads is about the right amount. I do the same for sparkplugs, a little on the first few threads, makes removal much easier in the future.

Sorry man, I actually just sold it on e bay :(

I did spend some time re working the seat profile, and came up with a design that it hitting home with me. I am now starting to really get enthused about this project. Winter is approaching, so I should be hitting this a lot heavier durring the un ridable months. Here's a piccy:

Now I just need to start carving the foam for the seat mold....

What bike did that gas tank come off of?

The tank is a 79' Yamaha XS750. Not much work at all to fit it to the frame.
