NICE CLEAN Job Galaxian! BTW, I an new to the forum and like everyone else here.. I own a Kawi (KZ1000p). The bike is going trough a chop bob work (rigid frame) rtnow. I got an 06 Kawasaki 636R front end (gold nitrite colored forks). Kind want to keep the the stock kz1000 mags for the rear end. But my buddy suggested to go with a sports bike 160-170 tire rear end.

My questions to you:
1.) the zx front end you got mated to your kz1000, did it bolt on wit no fuss??? what trouble and adjustment did you have to do?

2.) for the drive sprocket, did you purchase an offset sprocket to make it work with the rear end?

Much appreciate it Amigo, Thanks!

The front end was actually fairly straight forward. The ZX7 stem ID is the same as the KZ1000 stem OD. So i cut the ZX7 stem right at the triple and pressed in the KZ stem into that. Welded a bead on the bottom for good measure. Done.

I do have an offset front sprocket its a 5/8 offset. The rear weas fairly complex in the sense that i needed to offset the front sprocket so the chain would not hit the new 180 tire and at the same time machine down the rear sprocket carrier so that the chain does not hit the frame. I have a diagram somewhere of all the measurements which i can post once i find it. It took lots of measuring and checking websites for the correct sprockets. However if i had to do it all over again i would go with a 5.5 inch rim in the rear instead of the 6 rim that i did. You can still fit a 180 tire but have some breathing room for the chain.

Appreciate it Bud. I did come across a post and a link regarding a kz1000 and zx636r front end swap. And you practically did the similar thing by reusing the kz stem. I hope there wont be any major diff from using the zx7 vs zx636 forks. I'm assuming you got a 16 in rim for front?

did you custom made your own offset sprocket? I'm lookin at D&G sprocket and cover but none of the support guys from the store can help me with the right matching combo, rear end rims to sprocket offset setting. To be honest I got more info from you!

I should be taking pix soon here, we got three more bikes to complete prior to my build in the shop.

Thanks BUD!

That's bad as fu*k. Old school style with new school tech, love it. About how much time/money invested including original bike?

VERY NICE JOB!!:woohoo:
mine is allmost the same. i used the 95 forks. what do u mean by "no preload adj" ?
can u add details about the 6" rim fitment? did u use a zx11 caliper arm?
did u use a 5/8" offset sprocket?
i was able to gut and shim the stock chain cover, and use it with my 5/8" sprocket.

Did you have to go to a 530 chain for frame clearance?
