Well I brought home my 85 gpz today. I will be tearing it apart and begin mocking it up tomarrow. I'll post pics once I get something that looks like a bike.

I need some advice/help. I'm triyng to install a 05 gsxr 750 rearend. My gsxr top shock mount is too wide for my 85 gpz 750 frame. I was wondering how some of youguys that have similar setups got around this. I was also wondering how much material can be removed from the swingarm pivot area to clear the rear of the engine. Thanks.
P.S. I cut a bunch of useless brackets off today also.

You can clear all the material you need so long as its not occupied by a bearing or a fixed seal location (I'm assuming the swingarm already has an open area to fit around the engine).

Are you talking about the shock or the swingarm? The area on the swingarm that nedds clearancing is in the center. Should be able to grind there without interfering with a bearing. the top shock I can not narrow any, cause there is a seal flush with the outside.

Can the seal be pushed in at all? Not sure if you could change the bearing out and slide the seals in and take some material off of the shock.

On your swingarm, if are cutting material out I would leave in the back side if you can just to retain some strength. The Material in the middle keeps the frame from pinching the swingarm. Pictures of the swingarm would help with this.

Like the shock mount is not a spherical bearing. So i'm thinking about widening the top shock mount on the frame.

If I'm seeing this right, you just need to thin out the tubing behind the engine so it doesn't rub on the engine case? If so, use a belt sander to remove material as needed with out going into the tubing. I did that on a CR125 swingarm where it contacted the Kawi engine case. Just don't go through the tubing otherwise you'll need a way to seal the bearings.
