before I powder coated my frame
This was one of the main reasons I'm sooooooooooo glad I chose paint over powder coating my frame for my first restore/conversion project....
I had way too many Oops or Ah shiza, didn't think of that... Now it's not an issue where I strip off the paint, weld/fab, primer and repaint... No one knows the difference....
Now that I have been through the whole conversion process, I realize how important it is to fully fab EVERYTHING first, install/fab the bike complete including engine, chains (frame clearance), wheels, brake cylinders, rear sets, mono shock mounts, fender mounts, lights, tank, front fork turn radius, seat relocation mounts and frame support fab etc... totally disassemble and then and only then get the frame powder coated....
As you can tell, I had numerous Oops in my project...
Obviously Plummen has been through this enough times and through experience, take your time, think it fully out, fab once and done with it....

WELL SAID. I am in the same boat.
i did some mods and used the spray can on my frame as well. It's good to ride it for a season and learn more about how the frame reacts to the mods. Now i can go back and change this up,without fear of the cost of repowdercoating, untill i'm convinced i have done everything i want.
