I am having my swing arm modified by having the Z type shock mounts welded to the GS swing arm, and a couple inches down from the eye on the GS swing arm as well, so that the shocks get the same angle as the bike was originally designed ot have. To me, it was the best way to go about it.

I have a pair of GS1100E shocks laying around if you are interested U2U me .. If I remember right ? the stock shocks dont line up right ,, The Clevis should be stronger , Baldy ( Pretty Red KZ650 ) cut off or made his clivis and then welded them on Fox shocks ,, It is another idea :) :)

i have combed the threads on a gs1100 swing arm conversion. alot of great info already here, but i havent seen or read about the using stock shocks(asy that quick a couple of times) i know the gs swing arm uses a clevis lower mount, looking at a kz650 swing arm it has couple of little tabs, so why cant i just use my stock shocks with a grade 8 bolt and lock washer set up? i'm not trying to be that cheap but if i dont need more parts laying around than i already have that would be a good thing with momma.

thamks all...

the paint is still the same as it was , it is actualy not black. it a real dark jade green with pearl. it dose look black at night though, till you get up on it.

the complete front end is from a 2006 kawasaki zzr1200 ninja. forks, wheel, fender, brackes, tree, controls, ect. i hooke up my two-step into one of my control swithces. it wasnt a bolt on and take off swap. hade got lucky and found a guy near hear that dose a lot of machine work on the side at a steal. he done the hat-bushings i needed to press into my tripples to make my steering stem swap out. it has a six over swingarm. rear fender has been moved back. 5.5 back wheel with a 180 back tire but will be getting a new 190 after i burn this one off at derby this weekend.

the motor is pretty much the same as it was. i was on a poor mans budget. its a wisco 1075, welded crank, 34cv carbs, vance hines 4-1 header( upswept not pro pipe. it sets 2.5 inches from the ground :silly:) dyna coils, dyna wires, dyna s ignition, dyna drl-400 two step.

i will try to take better pics this weekend at derby. wont be able to post any pics till i can get to my old ladys moms pc. my usb ports are screwed.

I guess that's cool if you have cash to burn. You should try doing some of this yourself buddy, It's cost effective and a learning experience combo. I replaced my rear bronze bushing last year. Parts $32.00 Labour $ 0.00

The bike sat so long I'm now having to perform a series of Italian Tune-ups :P to clear things up.

If you are going thru that much trouble for a new swingarm, I would (did) go for a new one and a mono shock. get a new wheel to match and have the better brakes that go with it, but thats just me:whistle:

Removing chain on a KZ1000p/help was created by Sweet Back

I've looked through the sight and haven't had much luck. I need to remove my chain and it appears that I need to remove the front sprocket. Now before I go ape sh!t pulling things apart, I read the manual and it says to remove the rear tire and swing arm. Sounds like a a lot of work to me. I saw one post regarding a "shield" removable by 3 bolts, mine seems to be a part of the whole unit, in other words not removable. I do need to keep this chain, any suggestions.

Oh! I did try removing the front sprocket, big @ss socket wrench, one guy holding the back of the bike, another on the brake, wouldn't budge, and yes, I flattened the "retainer washer" or whatever you call it.

Suggestions please!!!! This appears to be my only obstacle so far with the switching of motors. (fingers crossed)

I just reread your post so if you need to move the SR wheel LEFT of CENTER for it to be centered that means that the offset on the carrier is smaller than on the kz. Ok now is the carrier a 4, 5, or 6 type? Meaning how many "teeth" are there and how many rubber stoppers on the inside?? Another way of making it fit may be to shim the sproket but it depends on how off you are. If its more than 1/4 inch i am not sure shimming would work and keep the integrity that it needs. Post back with your findings.

Also this has nothing to do with the type os swingarms the bike is using and everthing to do with offsets.
