Did you get the GS axle with the swing arm?
If not you will need it because the GS swing arm is wider.
You will also need to add washers to each side of the swing arm mounting bolt inside the frame.
I am in the middle of this project myself.
I looked at past build threads to help me alot.

Swingarm on to build struts and finish fender.

Cut the main piece out of 0.5" material.

Mounting points on the fender.

Getting it all buttoned up.

Putting it all together.

Finishing up for the day.

With the handlebars, new grips and levers visible.

More to come soon.

20120308

Getting things ready for paint this saturday, we'll do the chassis in a gun metal gray metal flake.

20120312

What I did saturday.

Getting things hung and prepped.

Started spraying.

First Coat.

The second and third coats were skipped, picture wise, but here I'm spraying the fourth and final coat.

Finished and drying.

My mentor, Albert, stepped in right as I took a picture, he then proceeded to scoot out as he realized I was taking pictures.

Last pic before I left.

Maybe another update tonight.

Actually a streetfighter is a modern sport bike (like a GSXR or CBR900rr) with its fairing removed, duel round headlights and motocross handlebars mounted. This started in England with riders who could not afford to replace their broken fairings.
A UJM, like a kz750 or KZ1000, with the suspention from a modern bike is more like a retro-rod or a superbike replica.
A KZ1000 with a 6 in. over swingarm and struts is a drag bike or a 200 mile a year street bike.

Thanks fo rthe explanation. If that's the purpose (and I don't doubt you) I guess there are some folks that simply don't understand what makes a bike handle well. I say this because I see folks who say they're building a "fighter" but their pics show Lincoln Towncar length swingarms matched with stubby little front forks so low the bike's geometry is totally screwed up (not to mention things scrape in turns), hardtails or struts (and you know how well that makes a bike handle), and silly wide tires front and back that will not change direction easily - some with tread that belongs on a motocrosser instead of the street, etc. I suppose if the components are well thought out and properly matched a modded bike can handle well. I guess I just haven't seen enough good examples. Ed

BTW, I notice the bike in your example has plenty of ground clearance; much different (better) than some I see that have about 2 inches under the collector.

Just curious. Ed

Actually almost the exact opposite. A streetfighter is all about handling with modern suspension front and rear. And when I refer to an "extended" swingarm I am mearly meaning that most modern aluminum swingsrms ie...gsxr, r1, cbr ...etc are generally longer than the stock kz swingarm.

Pics explaine better

Alright I have a spectre that's been sitting for far too long. I really want to start a fighter build. But in doing so an extended aluminum swingarm is a must for what I'm going for. With the spectre being a shafty I started tear down to see what I had to work with. Here are a few pics of my findings. Luckily I have a 750 sitting right next to it for easy side by side. Upon inspection after removing the ring and pinnion assembly it apears there are only slight differences. The main difference being the output shaft coming out of the side of the case.

My question is this......does anyone know if the final drive out of a 750 might swap out directly for the spectre final drive? If that's the case then I could be in business here. Let me hear your input. Thanks

lots of mods,coils,blue headlight,barend mirrors,gold chain,stage 3 carb kit,kirker 4-1,dyna 3000 ignition,plug wires, front braided lines,81 sr650 motor, ,92 gsxr 750 fonr end, rear disk conversion, kawasaki 750 swing arm with 16" rim,taperd steering bairings,chome master-brake handle, acewell guage. header rap.
new paint comming and soon to be polished 78 650 motor

I installed the 1992 gsxr 750 front end on my bike, but i would like to do away with the fork mount handle bars
and get the kind that mount on top of the triple t, but my triple doesnt have a place to bolt on the handlebars.

do they make a set of risers that can be bolted onto the top of my triple?

also take a look at my front tire-rim, any suggestions on a differnt rim/tire that would mount on - forks? gsxr 1000? i would like a bigger profile.

bottom line i like the gsxr triple/ fork conversion but i want a better stearing system with more height? how about a differnt fork-rim-tire-rotor-caliper that would work with the 92 750 triple?

or do you think installing handlebars on top with risers would help with low riding postion and handleing?

what would you do with this front end. the rear rim is a 16" 750 ltd disc conversion
the front is a 17inch rim.
