That is EXACTLY how factory brackets look.

I just finished searching pictures of ELR chain guards. It is one aspect of a bike I never focused on except to note how hideous and ineffective they are.Like the chain guard on my 77' KZ 1000LTD

Seriously awesome bike.

Thanks
The chain has 12 miles on it, still waiting for good weather to get the chain all dirty. I live a quarter mile from the pavement so it won't take long once it's a little nicer out.

~~~>>> I thought so. It looks like a chain on a museum bike.
These arrived in record time (6 days using UPS), and at $156.00 (exlcuding shipping) 25% CHEAPER than EBAY, I couldn't resist!!!
www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004293531971...000028659407053%21sh
While I waited for them to arrive I worried about clearance to my DIY chain-guard...
Installation was totally straight-forward, using the mounting bushes provided... and took all of 20 minutes to install.
I was relieved to find that I had indeed provided sufficient clearance to the chain-guard.
Installed, they look fabulous, me thinks!... and the yellow spring against ELR green will look sensational...
(roll on Easter weekend )
They are "nitrogen filled", with variable compression AND re-bound damping. (16 "clicks" adjustment on each)
Spring pre-load is also fully adjustable, by screwing the adjuster nut with the little tool provided in the kit.
I haven't quite settled on final settings yet, but GPz's are long and low (read "stable") anyway...
However, I can report that stability in fast speeping corners is now truely amazing.
Ride quality and directional stability are remarkably improved, according to my "butt dyno", so to speak.
(compared to the 42 year-old original units)
I am satisfied.  (which is unusual for products I've bought form China!)
H.
I bought the same shocks from them.  If you were wondering how they look on the ELR paint scheme, here is a picture.
Oh oh, now he has to powder coat the wheels.
The yellow goes perfectly with the green. Tho I believe he should keep it red and leave the original paint.
>>> I will admit that I really do like red GPz's...a lot!
I think thats why I've been puttin' off going green for so long.
However, the paint on mine isn't original, and, as a result of my petcock mods, the underside of the tank is looking a bit "rough".
...I see I'm painting myself into a green corner...
I wasn't happy with the "look" of the shiny B1 handlebar clamps, because they seemed "out of place" next to the cover that I 3D printed.
So, I designed and printed little "clip on" cover "boxes" that simulate the "block" look of the genuine Lawson (1000R & 1100R) handlebar clamps.
(complete with erm, replica, M8 cap-screw heads )
With a coat of 2K Satin black on, it's dificult to tell that they aren't actually functional.
Another small detail that distracted me from painting her green...
But hey, the green clock is a tickin'....H.
