Z1 rear motor mounts go for decent coin on ebay though. You also may need to figure a way to mount the bracket for the battery box, i know on 1000s thats part of the motor mount

I'm planning on doing this swap on my 1978 1000 too once I get some other things out of the way first. You say you made your left side mount from the stock one? could you have done that with the right side as well? This post caught my eye since it's a problem that I will need to solve sometime. It's gonna be -5 here tonight though so I'm trying to solve it on the computer not in the garage!floivanus wrote: Yeah both sides are side cover mounts, last set i saw on ebay went for $40-$50. I had a right side and made my left side from some plain kz1000 ones,

Because nothing looks better than a brown 74 z1

The offset is there to clear the side cover. On the 80 ltd the left side kind of mounts up ( the seat lock is kind of blocked though), the rear mount on the right side rear mount needed re-located, so on one side, two mounts line up and you need to fab the third or waste z1 parts; and the other side one mount is there. So half the mounting tabs are close enough

The aftermarket covers won't blow off like the stock ones and I've learned to like them for that reason.
