did a couple spoons and it really works I can see why the clearcoat is needed it has a true silver look but yes I can see myself this system actually works i will post some pic's later. I can see some serious potential. going to some smaller parts today and then i think my forks will be my fist bigger project

Well if it worked on spoons it should work on forks!  Oh, just shoot me.

Cool stuff, I've wanted to try it out too (for fenders and such, not for pipes, although it looks like it could be a great alternative) but never had the spare scratch to make the jump. Let us know... !!!

step 2 is to clean and degrease your spoons or forks lol then A: spray with DI water.
wipe down with wetting agent. wetting agent keeps the water from beading up and creates
a sheeting action

B.While still wet spray again with DI water then an ample amount of sensitizer wait
for about 20 seconds and rinse again with DI water

C: then spray a combination of silver nitrate and reducer from a dual chamber sprayer depositing equal amounts of activeted silver and reducer

D: blow dry with compressed air or a blow dryer on cool setting and you will get this

to achieve the actual chrome appearance you havr to clear coat with a tinted clear

my clear tinting formula is close in color but the tint i used isnt compatible with my
clearcoat and deposits small bits of undisolved color so i will be buying the correct
candy concentrates tomorrow

I picked up a spare valve cover for my '83 KZ1100 LTD, and after cleaning it up, figured it was too dull to eventually install as it was, so ordered some VHT SP525 Silver Chrome paint to try out on it - I've had pretty poor results with other various "chrome" paints that apply poorly, never dry to a proper hard finish, mar easily, and the "chrome" pigment wipes off on your fingers...

BUT, this new VHT Silver Chrome paint is REALLY good stuff, applies easily dries fast to a HARD finish that shines and doesn't wipe off.

Check out the pic below - and for reference the end sections on that valve cover ARE Chromed, and were masked off prior to painting - I'm seriously considering to paint THOSE sections over too, since the paint is so good:

That looks sweet
seriously good stuff i have become a believer if VHT products

The guy teaching me this chroming process has used a ceramic paint that dries about like the vht but then when put on a buffing wheel turns almost show chrome
but I havent tried it.

I have done a ton of research on the silver guilding process this last couple months and allot of companies are trying to improve on the learning curve by coming up with easier to apply kits but the majority have had problems with longevity of the shine and adhesion.

this process is plgued with incinstancy and takes allot to master. I recently talked to a couple guys who have donr it here locally and sold out for that reason. But then again those guys bought ready to spray systems instead of learning it from the ground up.

sorry didnt mean to get off track that valve cover looks great!
