well lets say spray chrome silver mirroring or whatever you call it doesnt work well on header pipes he isn't sure if it was his base coat or the entire process so looks like we are still stuck with the regular options for refinishing

I ordered my supplies today so hopefully next week I will begin learning the process.

I got lucky with a small windfall today and I believe there is a market in this area for this area so I am rolling the dice

I hope it goes well for you, I know the headaches of firing up, almost walked out at work today. Just about had my fill and it's more me than them. If there is a way I can help you, LET ME KNOW!

Thanks Les I sure will and I know what you mean I turned down a really great oppertunity yesterday and told my boss to keep me where I am at on semi layoff. I blame it all on resurecting my KZ lol
sitting behind a desk for the last 20 years and getting the time to work with my hands has really changed my perspective.

If I had any sense I would wait another year so I could afford it but blessing or curse my girlfriend says "Honey if you wait another year you will hate the people you work for and burn a bridge you may need lets do this while we have an opening"

Bad part is she is right. This way I still have the respect at work and a paycheck until i make it or break it lol

i am pretty sure i watched a show where they used this process on an audi r8 for the owner of monster cables.

really crazy the way they flooded it on with two guys just flyin at it.

hey guys stick in there, keep your eyes on the prize, don't falter.
it's a great life if you don't weaken.

i work a day job and do all i can with what i have in the evenings hoping that maybe one day i can have all the toys i ever wanted :cheer:

My guys first test was a stainless header pipe didnt last a day the following pipe is a regular steel header pipe. using High Temp base coat similar to VHT silvered then a clear clearcoat (the secret to spray on Chrome is the tinting of the clearcoat oops I gave it away  ) it is going on day number 2 not sure how many hours but no visible deterioration yet. he also has a real triple plate chroming business (I mean real not in the US no EPA) and is just doing tests to compare the longevity and the comparison either way he wins if it works spray on less expensive real chrome last longer depending on the end result of his test. he just did the header for testing not the collector from what I can tell

Like I said its not tinted so it looks a little harsh (Silvery) but if it holds I will spend 100.00 bucks doing my pipe vs 380. for a chrome Vance and Hines

Yeah Leon
I have had a few suppliers send me videos trying to sell me turn key operations and yeah its crazy the way it silvers if it gets dry at any point the silver wont adhere but one it has and dries you can immediately take a piece of Duck Tape and stick it to it and it doesnt come off

the colors are limitless unlike real chrome if this pipe thing works you know my pipe will have a green tint lmao

Take your eye off the ball and its a strike everytime take your eye off the prize and she runs off so you know my eyes are glued

Thanks Les sprayed various plastic spoons with different combinations of paints and
clear.

in the early days of this process adhesion was a problem my guy says if I follow
his process that wont be an issue but my curiosity of how things work and dont work have
me wanting to minimize my learning curve so to speak.

my son inlaw broke my buffer buffing his boat so I need to stop and get one tomorrow before I can chrome the honda parts I painted them earlier in the year just need to color sand and buff em a little

Attachment 100_3974.JPG not found

Step 1
Wash and degrease part (in this case a plastic spoon)
Spray with an adhesion promotor and base coat then clear with automotive grade clearcoat
making sure not to touch any of the surface to be mirrored with bare hands

for testing purposes didnt use adhesion promoter on 3 spoons on another 3 I didnt wear
gloves and another 3 I will do without clearing just to see what happens if the process is
not adhered to to the letter.

My trainer says he uses the spoons as demo pieces and the first thing people do is bend
and try to scratch it off. as long as I follow his process to the letter on plastics and fiberglass That wont be an issue.

If any one tries to bend or scratch my normal paint jobs I tend to get a little ill but with
the mirroring people tend to associate it with plating which it isn't its only as tough as the
paint and process used.

got my sprayer in the mail today.

did a couple spoons and it really works I can see why the clearcoat is needed it has a true silver look but yes I can see myself this system actually works i will post some pic's later. I can see some serious potential. going to some smaller parts today and then i think my forks will be my fist bigger project
