The stock one? I didn't even think to try that. If I can find it, it will be a good indicator...the 1157's have been replaced with led versions. :)

I didn't have a chance to hunt for the stock taillight yet, but noticed when I came home from work that I had left my ignition switch in the on position for about 9 hours or so. Luckily, the headlight was off, and the run switch was off, so the only drain was from the led taillight and the Acewell computer. I plugged in the battery tender to charge it back up overnight.

I think I am going to email the company that makes my taillight and ask them about that .78v. They may have an answer for me so I don't have to start dissecting the light. LOL

I got an email from the company about the taillight today. They said the small .78v leakage is normal. I'm 99% sure the problem only occurs while the engine is running, so I'm really thinking the ignition is drawing too much power for that fuse block. I will be rewiring the ignition with a relay to see if that corrects my issue.

Looks like the taillight problem was a bad ground. Fixed that issue without running the ignition through a relay...though I will be adding that sometime in the near future when I'm not feeling so lazy. LOL

Went out for a short ride today. I had planned to ride most of the day, but only went about 5-10 miles because she was running a little funny. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it was just the crappy low-grade gas I put in it, and check her out in the spring. When I got home, I let her idle in the driveway for a few minutes, and then drove down the street and back. I couldn't duplicate the issue I was having, so maybe it's ok. In any case, the weather just happened to be fairly nice today, but won't be for long. I dumped a bottle of Sta-bil in the tank and ran it at idle for about 10-15 mins and then pushed her back in the garage for the winter.

BTW, if anyone is interested, it's been a while since I made the Buna-N gasket for the petcock adapter plate, and it is still holding up like a champ. :)

My truck's in the shop for transmission issues, so I rode the kz to work today. As I mentioned in my previous post, it is still running funny. I'm experiencing a drop of 2 cylinders at high rpm, and if it doesn't die when I let off the throttle, all four kick back in at idle (sometimes a little higher rpm though). I'm assuming that it COULD be the advancer, but still leaning toward it being electrical issues due to the tach readings jumping up and down during the issue (digital tach). I will be checking all wiring in the ignition circuit tomorrow. Any thoughts on what else to check? (battery seems good thought its 3 years old now, power to lights and computer during issues)

I think I may have found the culprit! I forgot that after the previous ride where I started having issues, I found my main power wire had too much slack and was torn up by the rear wheel. I thought taping it up would fix the issue, but it may have too many damaged strands to draw enough power for sustained high rpm's with the high-draw dyna-s. What do you guys think?

Today I replaced some wiring I thought may have been bad, replaced the ignition switch I thought may have been bad, checked the timing, pulled the dyna out, checked and oiled the advancer, put the dyna back in, set the timing again, and still have the same problem. It seems to only happen above 3500 rpm, and then will usually kick back in at idle. It feels and sounds like it is dropping 2 cylinders (actually sounds kinda cool, but MAJOR loss of power). What should I check next? Could it be a bad battery, and I just can't tell when the bike is running?

Just found this on another thread. It seemed in this case, the coil shorted out and damaged the Dyna-S. I have new coils and new Dyna-S both with less than 1k miles on them...but I guess anything is possible...
