I hope so too. I am told by his mother that instant gratification isn't fast enough for him, so up front my biggest challenge will be to show him that anything worth having or achieving takes real blood, sweat and tears.

Apologies for the out of focus pic, but you still get the picture (pun?) In the top of the filler you can see the fuel tank vent check valve. This is the reason I got this particular filler; because it was built in. Other fillers might also have this feature, but this was the only one I found that I could verify the vent AND not pay $80+

On a happy note, I have found myself an apprentice. A friend of my wifes has a 14 y.o. son (single mom) that pretty much hates his family, school and life in general. I have spent time with the kid and he is very bright and has an interest in making things. I told him if he helped me clean and organize my garage, and keep it that way, I would teach him what I knew. He got excited and said he would love to help me for the chance to learn how to build things. Let's hope I can help the young man find himself B)

my turdpuncher nephew(kinda adpoted) was on the path to ride the bus his whole life....and his whack job mom and dad were fine with that...

so i took him without telling them, and taught him to drive an automatic 3 yrs back...last yr he saved and bought his first beater and now has a license and part time job and is taking some intro classes at the Monterey J.C...frigging great kid...and really sad story behind him now...

This is a kid who saw only idiots around him growing up and had no real goals or role models....

I saw him the other day and he still has his license /his school rolling/same job/and is drug free......

This is a kid who folks were already writing off , and who can barely read and write at 19........
Go figure.....kids with twice his brains are still skate boarding and getting in trouble....oh and he digs KZ' and motogp every yr.....

It took very little of my time and he is the one doing it all now!!!!

good for you

Thank you Ben, Craig. We spent some time Sunday cleaning the garage, having lunch and fielding questions about how to build things. The kid is smart, might even give me a run for my money :P. He is capable of great things...he only needs a little light to show him the way.

BEN!!!!! I am super excited to get my triples. I do hope you were able to get them to the post office ;)

OK Ben, good to know. I still rolled the bike out of the garage this evening using the stock triples, no bearings. at least I get a look at the bike on its own two feet. Check my project thread bud.

My apologies for a lack of updates. I'm suprised testerossa hadn't drug this up sooner asking for an update. The sorry news is I don't have anything new *yet*. I have been working on my frame, practicing tig welding and building a new welding cart for said welder:

But, the good news is that progress is on the horizon. My Helper is scheduled to come over this afternoon, and after a bit of cleaning and organizing we are going to work on the tank mounts:

The spot putty needs to be sanded down and primer coats applied until the pieces are ready to be flanged/molded. I think that since the parts are so small, I will make a single base to make the mold off of. That way I can make one set of tank mounts in a single process.

 they do kinda look like dentures don't they? At 33, I hope I wouldn't be dependent on artificial teeth just yet!
