I tried por15 twice on the same tank and it failed twice. Ended up using Caswel right over the por15 with great results.

Usually the second step in a sealer kit is when you remove the rust. It usually includes a bottle of I am assuming phosphoric acid to break the rust down. I used the Bill Hirsch kit recently with very good results and the rust remover they use is powerful.

Used Kreem 'cause that is what they had. I am very happy with the results.

Many thin coats instead of one thick one? OK, next time I'll do that.

I am a sales rep. for a Radiator Repair Shop. We do a lot of gas tanks car and motorcycle. If your tank has had a sealer in it beore it needs to be sent to a shop and put in oven to have burned out. Then when we get it back we sandblast the insides to etch the metal for the coating to stick good. If their are any areas even the smallest it will down the road start to flake off. We coat our tanks with Damon Redcoat Gas Tank Sealer.

maybe you are dead set on pouring a lining of some sort in your tank, but i used kzcsi bills method and it was unbeleiveable, the tank was filled with rust and by the time i was done, it looked like a new tank inside, and i dont have to worry about the rust coming thru the "coating" like a time bomb,
just thought id point it out since Bill was nice enough to offer advice and it seemed to be falling on deaf ears...(THANKS BILL!!!)

the trouble with you is the trouble with me, you got two good eyes but still dont see...

used Kreem on my tank in Jube unfortunately my tank was pretty bad and the acid etching opened holes I didn't have yet the paint bubbled i sanded it soldered it and covered it with JB Weld to get me through so far so good have a friend who swears by something called red coat has it done at a a radiator shop they boil em out braze up the pinholes and use the red coat if your tank is bad enought to leak through better solder it up an expext more soldering after the etching
