Any way to get the side covers off and using an air hose/gun blow the keys off the battery?

Ok, ok I'm an idiot. Today when I was working on my KZ750B I used the keys to open the seat and then had to pull the side panel off. so I set the keys on the battery and totally forgot them there. A short time later I closed the seat without thinking where the keys were. Now they are locked under there and I can't think of how to get them out. Any ideas?? I tried everything and right now I'm down to just drilling out the lock. I can't think of any other way.

I would unwind a coat hangar and try to fashion a tool that might be able to snake up there and snag the keys.

As plan B, you can always order a key made to the code of the lock online. I've done that. Sure it'll take a week, but I'd never drill out a matching lock.. not in a million years....

I tried using a hanger and taking the seat off today, no dice. Like KZ250ltd said the seat won't come off right. I tried looking for anyway to take it apart to get inside. No luck there either. These kawasaki engineers really know how to keep you out. Next up is the tip the bike over method. If that doesn't work then I'll Just have to buy a new key. That way I'll have an extra for next time.

I can't remeber how it's attached, but can you remove the rear fender and go in from that angle?

Nope, the bolts for the tail piece and the fender are all under the seat. And to remove the tail piece you have to push it forward, not pull it out the back...It's like they were just trying to spite anyone absentminded enough to lock their keys under there :P

I wonder if it's possible to get the fuel tank off with the seat in place? Might be able to reach in from the front if you could.

Becker, I see you have two other KZs - before anything else I would try the keys from both of them on the seatlock, might work out. I know I can open the tank lock on my GPz 1100 with the ignition key for the 650, it´s worth a try.

OnkelB the reason you can do that is that the gas cap has no tumblers in it. In a pinch you can also open them with a screwdriver or a pocket knife. I'm not saying it is totally impossible to have 2 bikes with the same key but the odds are not good.
