Has the brake pads improved since our bikes was new?

I’m using old OEM pads, but was wondering some modern pads is better or?

Yes brake pad material has come a long ways. I'm currently using modern organic pads on my KZ650 and the brakes are excellent. I get two finger stops and a nice feeling on the lever.

What pads can you recommend to my dual disc brake (front)?

And what options do I have?

Thank you?

If you do replace the pads do not use "sintered" brake pads as they are very hard on the original KZ rotors. Use either original Kawasaki pads or as baldy110 recommended use "organic" pads. Ed

I suggest you use the type of pads designed for the rotors on your bike. For years I used organic pads with my stock rotors but when I got later OEM drilled disks the lever had a pulsing that was unbearable. I tried everything I could think of to stop it and the pads went away fast. I got some sintered pads and it stopped. It's been two years, the brakes work great, the pads are lasting and the rotors are like new. B)

I know it's a bit off-subject, but the axle clamps shown in the pics are installed incorrectly (see 2nd image below). There should be zero gap at the forward end of those clamps. All the gap should be at the rear of the clamps. Here's a clip from the KZ manual. Ed

You're right. I guess I was in a hurry when I changed the bearings. Good catch. I'll switch them now.

Could you share more experience?
Any downsides?
Ingress in propertional control also?
Better «feeling»?

I have OEM pads now.
