in need of a new chain

i have the 1983 kz750 ltd h3 and having trouble finding a chain that fits. i tried amazon they had one for the exact make/model but the chains rollers were too big to fit on the sprockets. anyone have a link to get a proper chain for this bike?

A 1983 is an H4. ... From the diagrams at Partzilla the 83 750-H4 came stock w a 630 chain & sprockets. I'm assuming you bought
a 630 chain & if it doesn't fit (rollers too big), then someone probably did a 530 conversion. You can measure the pitch of the rivets
on your old chain. pitch = distance between rivets. 630 rivets are 3/4" apart center-to-center. 530 rivets are 5/8" apart.
note: it's usually recommended to replace the chain & sprockets as a set.
Z1Enterprises.com may have what you need. I get most of my maintenance stuff from them. see ad at top left.
search by motorcycle: 1983 -->> Kawasaki -->> KZ750-H4 -->> Maintenance parts -->> Chain/sprockets.

As Martin stated - 1983 KZ750-LTD is the KZ750-H4; the 1982 KZ750-LTD is the KZ750-H3. Bear in mind that just like cars the model year (and model) may be assigned to bikes made late in the previous year, so please go back and see which model you own.
Regarding the chain -
You really need to replace the chain and both sprockets as a set. Sprockets wear, and when they wear the geometry of the teeth changes. This change, even though it may appear minor will cause a new chain to wear out very quickly because the spacing of the rollers is not a good match for the spacing of the teeth on the sprockets. Replace all 3 pieces as a set or you are throwing money away on the chain.
According to everything I read the KZ750-H3 and KZ750-H4 use the same chain and sprockets. The front sprocket has 13 teeth, the rear sprocket has 32 teeth, and the chain is size 630 with 84 links. Below are links that show this info. Ed

For a 530 I believe you'd need at least a 100-link chain (maybe 102) & the largest 530 Fr sprocket that will fit is a 16T.
The stock ratio is 2.462 (32/13). The closest 530 setup to that ratio is a 16T Fr & 39T Rr (39/16 = 2.4375).
To lower the highway rpms, you can probably go with a 38T Rr (38/16 = 2.375).
note: i believe a 530 16T is slightly larger in diameter than a 630 13T, but I think it will fit.

such a pain im not a big bike guy yet still learning i counted the front sprocket and it has 15 teeth. what combination of sprockets can i get that will work for sure. browsing around there is so many options on 630 and 530 with various teeth.

I've been in touch with Norton over at Z1E and he gave me this info for the 78 Kz1000
I know it's not a 750 but here it is any way, I wanted to stay as close to stock with the final drive ratio as possible.
The 530 equivalent chain conversion is as follows;
(1) Counter shaft sprocket 17T p/n BAJTF513-17
(1) Rear Sprocket 38T p/n BAJTR488-38
(1) 530 Chain 114 Link p/n LA530XSOZ1-114
Original Final Drive ratio = 2.20 (4000 rpm) - 15/33
Conversion Final Drive Ratio = 2.24 (4064 rpm) - 17/38

The last time I bought a 530 setup was 50,000 miles ago they sold me this set up and the Final Drive Ratio was very similar sounding

I'm also going to put faith in PJ 1 Blue label chain lube this time.
I don't think that the wax really got passed the o rings all that good

The lubricant is not supposed to penetrate the orings, xrings, whatever. The whole point of having them is to keep everything out of the pins and to keep the factory installed lube in. On modern chains, the only tasks for external lubricant is to prevent rust and reduce friction between the chain and sprockets.

I've been using Maxima Chain Wax for quite a few years. My current O-ring chain has about 25,000 miles on it and it has barely stretched at all. Ed

This year I could feel the chain vibration and tight spot so I knew it was time.
We hardly ever get caught in the rain and the bikes are garage kept in the summer and are in the house for the winter months.
I guess 50 K is all I can expect out of these new chains
You can't tell from the out side because I kept up with the waxing , doing it while the chain was warm just after a ride.
but the inside was rusting out as can be seen on the front sprocket.
The chain never really stretched out much after the initial setting.
