Dont have a manual for this specific model,1980 KZ 1000 Ltd,I was able to download a manual for a 1980 KZ 1000 A,most things are close enough.Problem is it gives the tire pressure for tubed tires,I've got tubeless on the Ltd.Anybody know the correct tire pressure? The tubed tires call for 28psi front and 32psi for the rear,I'm using those numbers for now,but curious as to the correct pressure.

What brand and model tires? Have you checked with the manufacturer of the tires? They typically are the best source of information for that detail.

The correct pressure will be stamped on the side of the tires. Mine are 45 psi. If I run 32 the bike will wallow like a duck.

Steve,
45psi is most likely the max pressure.

Most modern tires use more air pressure than tires from back in the day. 32 psi front and 35 rear is common.

Most tire manufacturers list the recommended pressure, which is lower than the maximum pressure, on their website.

The tires are Metzler ME77's.The pressure printed on the tire are "max psi 45",I have never owned a bike or any vehicle for that matter that used the "max" pressure printed on the tire. Most manuals list two pressures for the rear tire, like 32psi for single rider and 35psi for 2 up.I know its not critical, and 30 or 32 for the front and 32 or 35 for the rear will be okay,I'm just kinda anal about tire pressure, even in my car and truck.

You're right. If I run lower pressure the tires get hot and wear faster not to mention poor fuel economy. I run 40 psi in mine. Any less the bike wants to wobble in high speed turns. Whatever is stamped on the tire should be run. They say MAX is 42 psi cold.

After some poking around, I see that the Metzeler website is pretty useless for this. It is almost impossible to find the ME77 info, and it says nothing about inflation pressure. I would run 32 and 36.
