Crap. My neighbor paid $900 for a tire and mounting on his new HD. He said he picked up a nail and they wouldn't patch it.
It's got to be worth it Eah?

They can keep it. I'll just keep riding my Z1 while theirs are in the shop or covered in their garage. :woohoo:

With alloy wheels it's important to know how to do it. They can be marked up easily.

no news, they simply won't go on. I know one shop that tried certainly knows how to put on tires, as well as all the tricks involved.
i've contacted the supplier. is there such a thing as a bad tire, that simply won't set properly?

I have done all my own tires for many years now. The best thing I have is three No-Mar tire irons/spoons. They have polymer ends that don't pinch tubes, scratch, dent or bend rims/mags on a nice 16" 2" flat steel bar. A also have the HF tire changer, but I only use the clamp on it. The pry bar rotating mount and dismount deleo is crap on the HF changer. With three spoons and I can remove and mount just about any tube and tire set in about an hour. With two bikes, I can't afford shop prices. :woohoo: :woohoo:

The shop I go to will do the tire change and the balance for free if I buy the tire there. So I spend $65 on a Dunlop and get all that for free. It's like stealing.

Well they took it to an auto garage today and took it up to 100psi, still wouldn't set. All parties involved feel the tire is defective. Talking to the retailer now about getting a replacement.

Could be a defective tire, but extremely rare if that is it. I don’t think the KZ550 has tubeless setup, mounting a tire and have it seat correctly on a tube type wheel should never be any problem. Getting them to pop out and seat on a tubeless wheel can be slightly more involved, but still fairly straight forward. I've changed my own tires since 1975 and never had a defective tire yet or much problem in seating. Over the years a few times had areas that didn't want to seat, so released air and relubed the problem area, and try again.
One problem with tubes is it is possible to have the tube not 100% in the carcass of the tire, particularly at the valve stem. Sometimes the tube due to the extra rubber ect around the valve stem area can be pinched in between the tire and wheel. If they don't do many tube type wheels, this would be a possibility and my guess as to the problem.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

With so many working on it would seem to me the tire is not compatible.

They're tubeless tires.
