In the past I.ve used Diet Coke (because it's less sticky) & a crumpled up piece of aluminum foil To remove rust from chrome

The coke and tinfoil does work pretty well, but it will rust again pretty quickly unless you seal it. I use Never Dull after doing the tin foil trick. its a wax and seals it pretty good. if you keep after it every 6 months or so it will look good for a long time.

I had one tire that was nearly impossible to remove, so I did the following. I used a box knife to cut both of the sidewalls all the way around parallel to and close to the rim. This enabled me to easily discard the tread and most of the sidewalls, and it left just a narrow part of each sidewall still on the rim. These narrow sidewalls then were very easy to remove and the task was done. Ed

Thats a better way of doing it. next time i have a tire thats impersonating a rock I will try this.

it will be a bit before I'm ready to buy new tires but thanks for all the good info - when the time comes to dive into that it'll be much easier now.
