I use Autosol for hand polishing and rouge with the buffer.

I buffed up my forks and covers over 25 years ago and there is a certain amount of responsibility in maintaining rock pits, grease, bug juice, road tar, and shop googlers that like to stare at themselves up close, and occasionally leave DNA while walking by, Mothers ,has always been my friend cuz THERES NO SHINE LIKE MOTHERS.

AMEN to that 9er! Front forks actually take the brunt of all 'road rash' residue...rock pebble nicks, bug splats, tar etcetcetc just as you alluded to no matter where you ride, same as exhaust downtubes and the fronts of shiny polished aluminum engines. Absolute perfection in the long term can only be achieved by non-ridden show-only bikes, and regular care with...*yes you mentioned it*..."Mother's"! There is no miracle 'polish-one-time-and-be-perfect-forever' cure for anything on a motorcycle. Yes it takes a bit work and elbow grease to keep that highly polished luster on any vehicle but once you achieve the look you desire, then a little regular attention to detail will greatly decrease future sore elbows from lack of regular care.
