Let's see GPz handle bar conversions.
19 Jul 2015 11:09 - 19 Jul 2015 11:09
As i think ahead on my dual shock GPz750 mods I'm thinking about how might modify the handle bars. I know there are upper triple clamps from other KZs that can swap over and there are also adapter plates. I know I don't what to just get some clip-ons or do a full front end swap, yet. I'd just like to know what other options are out there.
So post a pic of what you've done to personalize your bars and tell how it's modified your riding position. Anything from ape hangers to tank hugging clips.

If you use clip-ons or even really low bars, I would weld in a bigger stop to prevent tank-bar interference. I have done this on every bike and it is so nice not to have to worry about dinging the tank. It reduces turning ability, but you will still have more than a modern sportbike.
It also allows you to use a steering dampener without hitting the limits of the dampener and possibly damaging it.

I used risers fitted to the top yoke on mine. The top yoke has bracing ribs cast into it below, but you can get around this.

I know that some of the 750's used the same type and size stop as the 550's. Here's the one I use.
The set screw is not enough to hold permanently. It must be welded. But the screw allows you to remove it and adjust it before welding. If the stop reduces travel too much for your liking, just take an angle grinder to the sides where the clamp hits it.
The steering lock stop may (and usually) needs to be trimmed on the left edge so the lock will work when the steering travel is reduced, but not by much.
I've done so many of these, but apparently I don't have a good photo of the stop in place. I'll try to remember to take one soon.

Not pretty, but here's how the typical fixed clipons end up.

Those are cool Leon. Ever used them or have pics of them on a bike?

Re: Re:Re:Let's see GPz handle bar conversions.
21 Jul 2015 12:19 - 21 Jul 2015 12:21I'd like to see those mounted. It looks like it could put the grips about level with the top of the triple clamp. For my purposes, commuting, I'm thinking somewhere between half way from where they are to level with the tri clamp. Angled the same to straight.531blackbanshee wrote: gpzmod i haven't ever used them myself.

I'd still like to see what others have done regardless of the configuration. My mind might be changed.

No one else has done anything to their dual shock GPz?
