Wow, you guys are way overthinking this. Put some blue lock tight on it and torque it down, that's it. It will be fine. No conversion sprocket is going to have the hole drilled for the locking tab.

I sent my JT back and got a Sunstar 16 tooth for my KZ650 with the hole ..........I asked them about the splined washer you guys are talking about and they said since the sproket fits flush you cannot hook it on the slines so it won't work.

The later GPz had a further modified sprocket locking arrangement, :

I read that the 1000J motors were prone to losing their front sprocket bolt and my bike shows the scars of just this.

Kawasaki came out with an aftermarket safety clip thing to remedy this. I bought one from ZPower last year. Its still in the bag.I havent looked at it yet.I went with a bigger back wheel on my project which is going to need an offset front sprocket,so I dont know if Ill be able to use it or not. (Yet another question/potential problem/challenge on my build.)
but I know it exists.

The uprated sprocket retainer was as a result of some failures of the earlier type, and quite possibly some deaths.

It uses the holes in the sprocket and the output shaft spline, I'd use the later type on any big zed.

Unfortunately 12-spline. Kz1000 needs 13-spline. Called Z1 Ent. They're looking into it.

SHT. On my Z1 the nut came loose and rode in the oil pump housing. It never came off like that bolt.

Ordered 13-spline Lock Washer # 92200-1065 from Partzilla. Hopefully will work with my application. And if not, will use Lock Tight or maybe Both :) :)

Finally getting around installing this 530 sprocket & chain set-up on my KZ1000. Your right about the splined Lock washer, it doesn't work for there no splines to catch as the sprocket sits flush with the spline of the shaft. Talked to JT Sprockets back East and unfortunately they don't offer a "true" 530 conversion kit for the KZ, therefor the front sprocket has no provision or hole for the factory lock washer tab.

Besides only using Locktight, what other ideas do you guys have?

I could invest in some safety wire pliers and wire and probably thread in a couple of 8 mm bolts in the outboard holes of the splined center hole? Have any of you guys done this?

The sprocket is hardened according to JT but could be drilled at a machine shop?

Locktite, tack weld the nut to the sprocket? Do you have the two 6mm bolt holes on the sprocket? If so fab up a small plate and bolt it on.

You're over thinking this IMHO
