Monoshock Mount Material Thickness

Getting ready to design the upper mount for my monoshock on my 82 GPZ1100. The Fuel pump and stator are right behind this location so I would like to be able to bolt the horizontal member onto some tabs welded into the frame to allow for removal. What thickness material should I be looking at for vertical tabs and the cross member. I have some 1/4" thick angle but I am wondering if that is too heavy? What kind of forces is the cross member going to see? Your input is appreciated.

turboguzzis picture shows us how kawasaki did it and they used 1/8 walled plumbers pipe

so if you use 1/8 or 3/16 inch thick material you should be fine.

So, I need to find some sch 10 or Sch 40 Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe. It might look better anyways, more natural. I like the formed tubing gussets that they have for the butt joints. Now I can search the webs looking for that...

I work in industrial piping construction. I remembered as I was out riding today that they make something called a nozzle reinforcement saddle. I just have to figure out what nominal size pipe to use. The reinforcement saddle will help with the butt joint.
