Somewhere along the line I came to the conclusion my bike had a 630 chain stock . So I pretty much screwed that up , but good news because I went down in rear sprocket size my chain doesnt touch my Harley shocks . Anyways, yea sorry I had things backwards . I removed some links and will put chain on tomorrow . Also , My front sprocket is a 15 . You said it comes stock with a 16 so I asume PO changed it to a 15 . Thanks for clarifying everything guys , I think I got confused when I was reading about 530 chain conversions . Got to read the fine print .

And yes 650 ed Id like to think Ive made a bunch of mods lol . Ive done alot of different things including working on using msd springs to replace my ignition advancer springs which I will also work on tomorrow . should be very interesting but the point of the chain and sprockets are to lower my rpms so my bike isnt screaming on the highway .

Four teeth down in the rear that thing will be a pig around town..
The one down in the front will help but still gonna be lugging
the motor unless you ride around in third gear.

Very rarely am I ever below third gear . Im usually in second when ever I stop and this bike will mostly be highway and back roads not much in city driving. So I should keep the 15 on the front or should I use a 16?

Using a 16 will produce even taller gearing.

Gearing ratio is determined by the comparative diameters of the counter-shaft sprocket and the final drive sprocket (regardless of chain link size).

Reducing diameter of the final drive sprocket produces taller overall gearing.

Increasing size of the counter-shaft sprocket produces taller overall gearing.

Conversely:
Increasing diameter of the final drive sprocket produces lower overall gearing.
Reducing size of the counter-shaft sprocket produces lower overall gearing.

A one tooth difference in size of the counter-shaft sprocket has a greater effect on overall gearing than does a one tooth difference in size of the final drive sprocket.

The stock 16 : 38 overall gearing ratio would be equal to a hypothetical ratio of 15 : 35.625.

16 : 38 = .421

15 : 35.625 = .421

The ratio at hand:
15 : 32 = .469

As the resulting number gets larger, the overall gear ratio gets taller.

Hence, a 15 : 32 @.469 produces an overall gearing ratio that's taller than stock @. 421.

The 15 : 32 would be equal to a 16 : 34.1 sprocket combination, or about the same as using a 4 tooth smaller rear sprocket with the stock 16 tooth counter-shaft sprocket, (i.e., going from 16:38 to 16:34).

Good Fortune! :)

Okay so I should stick with this 15 front sprocket or probably get a 630 15 because this 530 sprocket isnt tightly seated like it should be . That gearing commander was very helpful , except that some of the ratios didn't make sense to me . Thanks for link though it does help.

Sometimes easier to understand by comparison to a bicycle's gearing.

Smaller rear sprockets produce taller gearing.
Larger rear sprockets produce lower gearing.
(Same applies to motorcycle final drive sprocket).

The smaller pedal sprocket produces lower gearing.
The larger pedal sprocket produces taller gearing.
(Same applies to motorcycle counter-shaft sprocket).

The lowest possible gearing is smaller pedal sprocket with largest rear sprocket.

The tallest -- highest -- possible gearing is larger pedal sprocket with smallest rear sprocket.

Good Fortune! :)

Can't use a 630 chain on a 530 sprocket.
And can't use a 530 chain on a 630 sprocket.

A 630 chain requires both a 630 counter-shaft sprocket and a 630 final drive sprocket.
Likewise, a 530 chain requires both a 530 counter-shaft sprocket and a 530 final drive sprocket.

The 630 and 530 chains aren't compatible. They just happen to have links of the same width.

With a 630 chain, the pending decision would be what size 630 counter-shaft sprocket and what size 630 final sprocket will produce the desired overall gear ratio,
And this will depend on availability of 630 sprockets to fit the bike at hand.

Could first determine which 630 sprocket combo produces stock gearing, and proceed from there.

Good Fortune! :)

Thats pretty much How I was shown to understand gearing. My bike has to low of gearing which is going to be fixed soon . Thanks for the help .

On a stock large Kaw four with 630 chain and 15-33/35 sprocket combo, going up or down one tooth on the counter-shaft sprocket makes a very noticeable difference in overall gearing.

With 530 components, a one tooth difference in the counter-shaft sprocket would be expected to produce a somewhat less noticeable difference in overall gearing.

Good Fortune! :)
