Useing body parts between model year?

Hello
I was testing a 1000LTD for 30 yars ago, and it was very nice to ride.
So now finaly, after 30 Y, I have invested in one -79 mod.
I would like to get the bike back to a nice condition.
The first I'll start with is body (since the engine is okay)
Have anyone use body part from a different year model, than your frame?
If so is it a 'perfect match' or is it more tricky adjustments?

Tanks that will 'drop-on' fit your motorcycle are:
1973-5 Z1
1976-77 KZ900A4-A5
1977-80 KZ1000B1-B4
1977-1978 KZ1000A1-A2

Sidecovers that will fit are:
1977-80 KZ1000B1-B4
1977-78 KZ1000A1-A2

Tail covers that will fit are the same as the tanks listed above.

...and welcome to KZR

Thank you :)
That is good. I have placed an order to BikeBandit.com
Since they could not suplay any tank for B3, I change the order to B4.
So hopfully they have all that parts in stock.
And it is a releaf to know that the parts in order will fit.

Since the tank cap was obsulute i 'Bikebandit' I hope that my existing cap will fit.

I can almost guarantee you that no one will have any of those tanks in stock new. Bike Bandit has a habit of showing parts as being 'in stock' on-line, and then reneging on the sale. Many of those body parts will be available used on eBay...which is where almost all of us on KZRider purchase parts for our antiques.

Some (very few) NOS (new old stock ) pieces can be found. Here are a couple at Paintworkz:

www.paintworkz.com/Parts.html

You may want to consider buying a restored set of bodywork. If you look toward the bottom of the page in this link you will get an idea of what can be done. I believe these folks will paint up sets to match other years/models.

www.paintworkz.com/Order.html

Z1E also sells sets of bodywork - take a look at this link:
www.z1enterprises.com/ListItems.aspx?keywords=bodywork

The Z1parts.net looks like a very nice site. :cheer:
Maybe I'll try them later.

I like to give BikeBandit a chance to deliver the order I has.
After live chat with them, they confirmed that all the parts I have order, was available.
Since they clam extra cost for shipment, due to the size or weight of delivery, I had to ensure that all items would be in that delivery.

I live in the middle of Norway, Trondheim.

Kawasaki.com says B3 and B4 tanks are both canceled, which means No Longer Available.

Bike Bandit is appropriately named.

Let us know how it goes.

You gays was right!!!
BikeBandit, could NOT deliver, almost nothing in my ordering list!!
So I cancel the rest as well. No use to pay a lot of transport fee etc. on 'bolts and nuts', witch can be easily fond here in Norway.
I am a bit disapointed, after having 'Live chat' two times whit those at BikeBandit, were the was saying that the parts was in stock!! They must have a crap of inventory system, or lack of proper training to customer service!!

So I'll be looking around here at my home area, to see if I can come across parts.
