When I lowered my bike and removed the rear fender I cut a slot down the length of a short piece of pipe welded it to frame could wire tied it just as easy ran my wiring through it to keep from smashing catching and destroying it

you can try lowering the triple tree to help even out once you get your shorter shocks on. someone may have said it already... I didn't read the entire thread.

put the sportster shocks on and lowered the forks thru the trees and man does it sit nice! Amazing what and inch or so will do!
