Custom GSXR Triple Clamps?
25 Jul 2012 10:20
I have seen a few guys on here with the custom, lowered upper triple clamps on their bikes. Where can I find one adapted from a 01 GSXR1000,to a 81 KZ750 that is lowered and able to run off-road bars? Thanks for any help.

That would do nicely. Is that some of your work?

Yeah, I do them for the ZX's and GSXR's right now but just about anything can be done.

Looks great! What would you use for the bottom? I'm guessing you need to press in a KZ stem?

the original gsxr or zx lower (whichever matches the front end) will work with les's upper.
you have to do a stem swap for the lower triple to work.
correct me if i'm wrong les.

I think some gsxr's will work with just a bearing swap but I'm not up to speed on that so don't know for a fact. A stem swap guarantees success with the swap. But, if a bearing swap does work, we can adapt the top tree to work without much effort. Leon is the stem swap goto guy if needed.

Cool, thanks.
I'm leaning heavily toward doing a modern suspension conversion for my next project.

The really newer stuff offers a lot of tuning you can't get with the old plus you end up with good brakes and a lot less flex, not to mention it does look good when done well. I've been shooting for the newest stuff I can afford, less chance of needing seals or road rash and that is worth something to me anyway.

Les what do you recommend? I would like to run at least a 150 on the back and do not really want to cut the frame. I would like to match the front end to the rear swing arm.
